Lily didn’t like being called out. She didn’t like other people knowing things about her that she didn’t tell them. She couldn’t help but wonder if Archer picked up on something or if he’d done a background check on her. Probably both.
“What makes you say that?” she hedged.
He shrugged. “Just a hunch. Single mom for most of your life. Married three times in just the last ten years, but probably more before that. I’m guessing you learned to cook because someone had to, and you liked it because it made you feel like there was one area of your life you were in control of. Still feel that way.”
