CHAPTER 6: GET OUT!!!

493 Words
Those words made Stacy's hair rise, she instinctively stepped back making contact with the door. Jayden also went closer with slow calculated steps, his eyes dark and deep. He looked straight into her soul as he stepped closer. Stacy's heart was already in her mouth. Jayden finally got to her and placed his hand above her head. He towered above her looking down at her. He slowly lowered his head placing it on her neck, inhaling her sharply. Stacy felt irritated, she gathered all her strength and pushed him off her. He staggered back and just like magic, his eyes cleared, like her scent was all he needed. He walked to the bar and downed a glass of wine. "Get out," he said without facing her. Stacy didn't move at first. Her back was still pressed to the door like it was the only thing holding her up. His voice had been low. Final. Get out. Her chest rose and fell, fast. Part of her wanted to argue. To ask what the hell that had been. But the look in his eyes a second ago — that darkness — made her swallow the words. She reached for the handle behind her without looking away from him. Her hand was shaking. Jayden still hadn't turned. He poured himself another glass, the sound of wine hitting crystal too loud in the quiet room. "Don't make me say it twice," he added, voice rougher this time. That did it. Stacy pulled the door open and stepped out into the hallway, her legs barely carrying her. Only when the door clicked shut behind her did she realize she was holding her breath. Inside, Jayden finally let his head fall back. He exhaled like he’d been drowning. Like her scent had been the only thing keeping him sane, and the only thing threatening to ruin him. --- THE NEXT DAY JK ENTERPRISES Jayden was in his office, working diligently on his laptop. A knock sounded at the door and Darren, his manager, walked in. He dropped a report on the table and took a few steps back. Jayden picked it up and started reading. Halfway through, his countenance changed. His eyes shot up and locked straight on Darren. "What is this?" he asked, voice sharp with anger. "The...the monthly report, sir," Darren stammered, keeping his head down. Jayden flung the report back at him, the papers barely missing his face. Darren cowered, bracing himself for Jayden’s wrath. Jayden had always been more lenient with Darren. His late brother had been the one who supported him when he was building the company. He’d passed away a few years after the company started flourishing. Jayden wanted to pay him back. So he employed Darren and treated him well. "Call a meeting. Now," Jayden said, clearing everything off his desk with one sweep. --- AFTER THE MEETING Jayden barged back into his office to find Antonio sitting comfortably in his chair.
