With my stomach grumbling like I hadn’t eaten in days, I made my way to the cafeteria. While the area smelled familiar, the whole set-up was different. Cramped with metal tables and dingy benches, the whole cafeteria was bursting with people. There were a handful of people serving food out of massive containers with ladles big enough to knock someone unconscious. Soldiers and students were lining up for food, all trays or eatware that I’d consider for camping purposes. Utensils that were a spoon and a fork at the same time, rectangular bowls with handles, and travel cups were clearly popular around here.` I joined the back of the line and queued silently, not knowing anyone and not feeling like making new friends.
