24 The Keeper’s task had been suspiciously easy and the whole thing was anticlimactic. I’d expected his favour to be something big, like my first-born child or to drag Var back kicking and screaming. Maybe even an assasination request, but clearly I’d added drama to a scenario that didn’t require it. Still. I had to remember that the difficulty of the task had nothing to do with the value of it. Even though it had only taken a couple of minutes out of my day and almost no effort on my part, that didn’t render my act worthless. I didn’t just plant a single acorn, I started a new forest.
