23 After everything that happened, it was surreal to queue for food. My stomach was still tight and full with knots from watching them murder and resurrect that man. It would be a while before my appetite returned, I guessed. “Pea soup,” Astrid muttered as she dragged the ladle through the green goop. “Again.” “I wasn’t hungry anyway,” I said. “Me either,” she admitted. The ladle clanked back in the bowl and Astrid loaded her tray with bread instead of the thick splodge. I followed her lead and grabbed some pieces of stale baguette.
