Chapter Thirteen The countryside outside Amsterdam was beautiful. I found the drive a refreshing change. A cool breeze. Salty air when we drove near the coastline. Broader vistas than I’d seen in weeks. We veered further inland to an area of perfectly kept farms, and I was surprised when the car suddenly made a screeching halt. Jackson had obviously missed the turn. He backed up several feet and we roared off down a long, narrow driveway. “Where are we going?” I asked, feeling my tummy sour with a bout of nerves.
