Chapter 13: Something in the Pillow

Thora POV “What are you standing there for?” Rhea yelled at Thora, before gesturing her closer Varsha was grinning from ear to ear. Her body shone like glass. She scooped the scented water over her D-cup breasts, then wagged them lustfully at Roman. He traced his fingers over her pink, hardened n*****s, before replacing that with his tongue. Varsha arched her back, letting out a loud, needy moan that echoed through the room. Thora gasped, and caught herself when the other attending omegas shot her scorching looks. She hustled forward with her head bowed. There was no need to overthink anything. She ignored the heat shooting up her center at the sight of Roman’s wide chest. Tried not to look at his wet hair that was slicked back as she lathered the sponge. Her heart was beating out of her chest like his hands were on her and not another woman. Deliberately, she moved over to Varsha to help bathe her while another omega tended to Roman. Varsha was like an annoying toddler. She wouldn’t stay in one place, often scooting over to touch or kiss the alpha. At the slightest touch from him, she moaned like she was having an orgasm. It was hard to watch. Thora avoided Roman’s eyes the whole time, while being intensely aware that he was watching her. She hoped he didn’t read any meanings to her behavior. She wasn’t being shy, nor was she jealous. She couldn’t care less what he did and with whom. She just didn’t feel like watching porn in real time tonight. Varsha finally got on all fours, clutching the edges of the tub for dear life. The omegas stood up, backed away and lowered their heads when the alpha rose to slip it in. Thora painfully stood through the real moans, the wet, slapping sound of Roman's c**k pounding into Varsha's soaking p***y. She didn’t even have to peek to see him grip her hips with bruising force, driving himself deep into her with every thrust. They were doing it barely four feet away from the omegas. The sound of flesh hitting flesh filled the air. “Oh, yes, alpha. Yes! Harder!!” The loud crack of Roman’s palm against her skin punctuated Varsha's screams of pleasure. Thora rolled her eyes, wishing to be anywhere else, wishing to be mauled by a wolf than endure another second in there. But she had to admit theirs was terribly close to human bedmatics. At some point, Roman hauled Varsha out of the huge bathtub, and proceeded to the bed which was unfortunately still within Thora’s peripheral view. Thirty minutes in, Rhea mouthed to her to fix her face. The s*x went on for a little over an hour. She finally stole a glance just to understand the various, twisted positions they were in. Varsha’s legs were pushed back toward her head while Roman hammered away at her from above. The bed creaked under the roughness of his movements. After it was finally over, Roman threw on his robe. Thora and the other omega changed the water for Varsha to clean up, while Rhea stood ready for the nighttime hair and skin routine. “Please spend the night.” Varsha begged with a raspy voice. “You never spend the night, only with Penny.” “I’ve got things to do.” He left quietly. Varsha was hardly offended by the zero after care attention. Instead, she pulled her blanket closer and sniffed it. “At least, I’m the first one he’s had since that farce of a wedding.” She chuckled animatedly, then eyed Thora. “You, get out! Rhea, I never want to see her in my bath routine.” “Yes, lady Varsha.” Thora bowed and let herself out. She was relieved to be out of there, and even more thankful that she never had to stand through Roman having s*x with Varsha again. But there were two other night wolves to worry about. How was she going to get herself out of their bath routines? She’d throw up if she stood through that ever again. There were kinks in her neck as she trudged down the stairs, headed to the omega wing. She wishes she could fall into bed and have a dreamless sleep, but she knew that wouldn’t be the case. She still had omega laundry to fold and dinner plates to wash before calling it a night. Her back hurt. She needed a bath. Yawning, she continued down. She was just about to enter the omega wing when she stopped and turned. She felt like someone was watching her. The high windows of the mansion all had a warm glow from the fireplace. Shadows passed but no one was standing or watching. Then she peered at the darkness outside. Chills zinged down her spine. There were a pair of amber eyes lurking in the shadows. Terrified, she rushed inside and slammed the door shut. *** She waited till everyone had gone to bed. That was when she got up and begun to search the storage room, being as quiet as possible. She didn’t know what she expected to find, but the possibility of finding something, even a piece of paper and pen, kept her pushing. She spent fifteen minutes digging through heaps of moldy fabric, cleaning materials, and old farming tools. She didn’t find anything useful. Listlessly, she sat on her mat and sighed. What did she think she was going to find anyway? If there was anything useful, it’ll have to be in the main building. Even though that was riskier, her life was already at risk. She had to try. The next day, her chore was to clean the rooms on the second floor of the mansion. It started off pretty easy at first. The occupants of the first three rooms couldn’t stand her, so they gladly left till she was done. The next two rooms featured unruly teenagers that slowed her pace. They got in the way of her work, making messes where she had cleaned. Dropped rude comments about humans in general, Thora’s status as human Luna and even made morbid jokes about what it would feel like to s***h her throat during a hunt and watch her choke on her own blood. That part got to her, especially when one of the young boys leapt to his feet and started walking menacingly towards her. His brother and sister cheered him on. Or they could have been his friends. Thora wasn’t sure. “Don’t worry, Alden. The pack wouldn’t bat an eyelid if she loses a finger or two.” “Yeah, nobody gives a rat’s ass about the human Luna. That’s not even a thing. Punch her. Make sure she leaves with a black eye at the very least.” Alden didn’t need their moral support. He grinned like he had waited all his life to do this. Thora’s fingers tightened around her mop stick. Did her penchant for reading apocalyptic novels growing up influence the universe to deal her a hand as dirty as her present reality? But no number of books could have prepared her to survive this. In that moment, she genuinely wished she had dabbled more into werewolf romance to help her navigate the pack. “Don’t be scared.” Alden told her. “I’ll try not to sever your windpipe completely.” Even though he was smiling, his eyes held a promise different from the one he was making. Thora stared at his fangs and claws, feigning courage. “This hardly seems like a fair fight. You have the advantage of your naturally given weapons and all I have a mop stick.” “That’s just proof that we’re superior to you human trash.” He belted out. “Maybe I don’t have weapons like you. But humans like me have something else; we’re really smart and know how to create our own weapons from scratch, like guns and bombs. Those kill a lot of people at once, even from a distance.” She rushed to add when their eyes narrowed. “If you could get your hands on those, your people won’t have to get hurt or even die in battle when fighting your enemies. They could just use those, and return home to you victorious.” The other kids abused her further for suggesting they rely on human invention to fight their battles. They admitted that though Alden had lost his older brother in a rogue attack, it was an honorable death recognized by the moon goddess. Thora ignored them and focused on Alden who had become visibly silent. Slowly, he withdrew from his earlier plot. When she moved on to the next rooms, Thora was grateful for the peace and quiet as she cleaned. Frankly, her mind had been whirling. She wasn’t even actively searching for anything but something did catch her attention while fluffing out the pillows. She felt her hands around the lump and dug it out. To her surprise, it was a PHONE! An actual PHONE! She may not have known much about the Valcourt pack laws, but one thing Thora could swear by was that phones were absolutely forbidden for lower ranked members. She had heard that Roman only had one because he had to conduct business with humans and that was a necessary means of communication. The rest of the pack weren’t permitted to use phones, because they lived together. Hence, Thora’s first reaction was to try to find out whose room it was. One thing was certain; the owner had to be close to the elites of the pack to even be able to sneak one in. But the room was nothing extravagant like Roman’s or the elders or even the night wolves. She wondered what average wolf would dare defy their pack law by hiding a tool that was used by humans a lot. Intrigued, she thought about stealing it, and immediately discarded the idea as reckless. If she was caught, they’d skewer her for sure. Then she considered making a call or sending a message out. The sound of footsteps and chatter outside scared her into putting it back. She promised herself that she’d be calm and calculated about taking the risk. It’d be foolish to do it when all they had to do was check the chore list to trace which omega had cleaned the room. She’d plan it better, for a time when she’d have a strong alibi. If the phone was still there during her next cleaning rounds, she’d try to get a message out. For now, she had to know whose room it was. She stepped out, noted details of the room so she didn’t miss it next time. She was at the end of the hall when she heard footsteps from the opposite end. She ducked in a corner and peeked. Her jaws dropped when she saw someone unlocking the door like they owned the place. “Dax?”
