Chapter Thirty-six. The next day. She left Rodrick's place for her house. She was alone in the apartment, baking in the kitchen when the pounding rattled her door. She opened it cautiously, and there stood a woman tall, weary-eyed, with a toddler perched on her hip. “Hi,” the woman said. “You don’t know me. I’m Layla.
