Episode 5: No Way Out The hidden corridor smelled of stone, dust, and something older—like secrets that had never seen daylight. Aria’s heartbeat refused to slow. Damian still held her wrist, pulling her deeper into the underground passage beneath the mansion. Behind them, the gunfire above was fading… but not ending. “They’re getting closer,” Aria whispered. Damian didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he pushed open a heavy steel door. Inside was a dimly lit underground room—screens, weapons, documents, and a table covered in maps. A war room. Aria froze. “You planned for this…” Damian finally released her wrist. “I always plan for this.” Her eyes darted around the space. “So this is what your mansion really is?” “A graveyard for my enemies,” he replied coldly. Aria stepped back slightly. “You’re not a businessman… you’re—” “Say it,” he interrupted, eyes sharp. Her throat tightened. “A monster.” A silence followed. Then Damian let out a slow breath. “No,” he said quietly. “Monsters don’t protect what they hate.” That hit harder than she expected. Before she could respond, a screen on the wall flickered. Motion detected. Damian turned instantly. “Stay behind me,” he ordered. Aria frowned. “I’m tired of staying behind you—” A loud explosion from upstairs cut her off. The ceiling trembled. Dust fell. Then— A voice came through the speaker system. “Damian Blackwood.” Cold. Familiar. Mocking. Damian’s entire body stiffened slightly. Aria noticed immediately. “Who is that?” The voice continued. “You really thought locking her inside your cage would keep her safe?” Aria’s stomach dropped. Damian didn’t respond. The voice chuckled. “We’re already inside your house.” Then, the speaker cut off. Silence. Heavy. Dangerous. Aria turned slowly. “They’re already inside?” Damian’s jaw tightened. “Yes.” Her voice rose. “Then we have to leave!” “There is no leaving,” he said flatly. Aria blinked. “What?” Damian stepped closer, eyes dark. “They didn’t come here to fight,” he said. “They came here to take you.” Her breath shook. “I don’t understand—why me? I don’t even know what they want!” Damian grabbed a file from the table and threw it onto the desk. It opened. A single page is visible. A symbol. And beneath it… a name. Aria Bennett. But under it, another word: KEY Aria stared at it. “What does that mean?” Damian didn’t answer right away. When he did, his voice was lower than before. “It means your father didn’t just hide information.” He looked at her directly. “He hid you.” Silence crashed down. Aria stepped back. “No… that doesn’t make sense.” “It does,” Damian said. “You are the access point to something they’ve been searching for for years.” Her head spun. “I’m not a code or a key—I’m a person!” Damian’s expression tightened slightly. “Not to them.” Another explosion rocked the mansion above them. The lights flickered. Alarms started blaring. Damian moved instantly, grabbing a hidden weapon from the table. Aria stepped back. “What are you doing?” “Finishing this,” he said. “You’re going back up there? They’ll kill you!” A pause. Then he looked at her. Really looked. And for the first time… something almost human broke through. “If I don’t go,” he said quietly, “they will get you.” Aria’s voice softened despite herself. “Why do you care?” That question lingered between them. Damian didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he stepped closer. Close enough that Aria had to look up at him. His voice dropped. “Because you’re the only thing they’re afraid I still have control over.” Her breath caught. Before she could process it— The sound of footsteps echoed outside the room. Multiple. Close. Damian’s eyes sharpened instantly. “They found us,” he said. Aria panicked. “What do we do?” He didn’t hesitate. He grabbed her hand again. But this time, he didn’t pull her behind him. He pulled her closer. To his side. “Stay with me,” he said quietly. Not an order this time. Something heavier. The door exploded open. Men rushed in. Aria screamed. Damian raised his weapon. And the underground war began again—this time with no escape route left. But as Aria stood beside him… She realized something terrifying. She wasn’t just being protected. She was being fought for. And that made everything worse. 🔥 END OF EPISODE 5 (CLIFFHANGER)
