Episode 7: After the Blood The silence after the gunfire didn’t feel like peace. It felt like something had died in the air. Aria stood frozen, staring at the lifeless body on the floor. Her mind refused to accept it. He was just talking. Just breathing. Now he wasn’t anything. Her hands trembled violently. “You… you killed him,” she whispered again, like saying it twice might make it less real. Damian didn’t answer immediately. He bent down and wiped his hands slowly, as if this was just another routine task. That calmness shattered something inside her. “Look at me,” he said. Aria didn’t move. “I said—look at me.” Her eyes finally lifted. And the moment she met his gaze, she regretted it. Because there was no guilt there. No regret. Only control. “You’re shaking,” he observed quietly. “Of course I’m shaking!” Aria snapped suddenly, her voice breaking. “You just killed someone like it meant nothing!” A long pause. Then Damian stepped closer. Too close. “Do you think I enjoyed it?” he asked. Aria laughed bitterly through tears. “Did you hesitate?” That question hit harder than anything. Silence. Damian didn’t deny it. That was the answer. Her chest tightened painfully. “You didn’t even think twice.” His jaw clenched slightly. “I thought about you,” he said. That made her stop. For a second. “What?” she whispered. Damian’s voice lowered. “If I hesitate, they take you. If they take you, you don’t survive what comes next.” Aria shook her head violently. “Stop saying that like it justifies everything!” Her voice echoed in the underground room. The dead body between them suddenly felt louder than both of them. Damian exhaled slowly. And then— He grabbed her wrist. Not rough. Not gentle. Just firm enough to stop her from shaking away. “Listen carefully,” he said, voice darker now. Aria tried to pull away. “Let go of me—” But he tightened his grip slightly. Not hurting her. But controlling the distance. “You think this is the worst you’ll see?” he asked quietly. Her breath caught. Damian leaned closer. His voice dropped to something almost dangerous. “This was a warning.” Aria froze. “What…?” “The people who came here,” he said, “weren’t the ones at the top.” A pause. “They were testing me.” Her stomach dropped. Damian released her wrist slowly. “And now they know you’re here.” Aria stepped back instinctively. “So this isn’t over…” “No,” he said simply. “It’s beginning.” A loud crash suddenly echoed above them. The ceiling shook. Dust fell. Aria looked up in panic. “What was that?!” Damian’s eyes sharpened instantly. “They’re breaking deeper into the mansion.” Her voice cracked. “There are more of them?!” Damian didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he walked to the weapons table. Calm. Controlled. Like war was just another language he spoke fluently. Then he said something that made Aria’s blood run cold. “They’re not here to fight me anymore.” He loaded a gun. “They’re here to take you from me.” Aria stepped back. “I don’t belong to you!” That made him pause. Slowly, he turned. And for the first time since she met him… His expression wasn’t just cold. It was something deeper. Something possessive. “Not yet,” he said quietly. That single word hit like a trap closing. Before Aria could react— The hidden door behind them exploded open. Men rushed in. Aria screamed. Damian moved instantly—pulling her behind him as he fired without hesitation. But this time… It was different. Because one of the attackers shouted something before the bullets started flying. “She’s the key—don’t let her escape alive!” Aria froze. Key. Again. Her father’s secret. Her name is on a file. Everything is crashing together at once. Damian shouted, “Down!” He shoved her behind cover just as bullets shattered the wall above them. Aria covered her ears, shaking violently. But through the chaos… She heard Damian’s voice. Low. Dangerous. Final. “If you want her,” he said to the attackers, “you’ll have to go through me.” And for the first time… Aria realized something terrifying. It wasn’t just that he was protecting her. It was that he had already decided— She wasn’t leaving him. Not alive. Not willingly. Not ever. 🔥 END OF EPISODE 7 (CLIFFHANGER)
