[4] The Take Down

1150 Words
*** Evan's POV ***     "The twins!" she said.      My body began shaking. "WHAT?" I growled, my grip tightened on my mate. My mate who has only been my mate for 5 freaking minutes! I realized Celeste was shaking. I pulled away from her and looked at her. Her eyes were on fire. The vein in her neck was pulsing.      "Wait, do you know them?" I asked her.      "Yes, of course! They've been attacking Vampire and Witch covens for centuries. I don't know how those are even the same twins. They are merely humans. I assume they have warlocks of some sort at their disposal. We have already called the elders, including my parents, to come back here in hopes they are still close." she answered.      The ground felt like it was coming up on me too fast. I collapsed to my knees. I could hear my mate in the distance yelling my name but really she was only inches from me. My sister was yelling for me too, but I could feel from the link, that she was feeling what I was too. All I could feel was Dmitri trying to claw out.      I saw through a haze of red anger, Celeste and her beauty, trying to bring me back to earth. "Evan, my dear, please look at me? Talk to me. What is going on?" She begged. She was so gentle in her tone that it was hard to remember she was a deadly Vampire. One of the most powerful ancient families, no less. I shook off my nearly present wolf and stood up.      "Why don't we head somewhere and sit down, I will call in my guys, we will go back to your coven?" I asked, not wanting to have this conversation quite yet.      "Yes of course! That is fine. Norah do you mind reaching out to Emily and let her know we have company?" she said, her eyes shifting to us almost to say 'you know, wolves?"  l stopped. Did she say Emily?     "Wait, Emily? The witch?" I asked her, smirking, because, who else could it be?     "Yes....?" She replied hesitantly.      "Oh my goddess, this is too funny!" Erin snorted, looking over at Celeste. "She is our Delta's mate. He has been worried about her all afternoon."     "Oh my gosh! Gabe? That's her mate? Wait, that's your Delta? Wait!! You guys know each other?" Norah asked, jumping from question to question like an excited child.      We all started laughing at her response, and she started blushing.      "Want to race, Mate?" I said to Celeste, smirking at her.      "Ready to lose, my love?" she purred in response. I took in the sight in front of me. Her boots looking like they could kick my ass, the way her pants clung to each curve in her body. That shirt, almost corseted around her waist, just shelving up her cleavage. It wasn't too much, it was subtle even. It was, however, driving Dmitri and I insane. While I was in awe of the creature in front of me, Dmitri wanted to cover her up and kill anyone who dared glance at our Queen.      Before I could get out my smart ass reply, she was off, Norah hot on her tail. I looked over at Erin, "Oh hell no! Shift!!!" I ordered.     We quickly shifted and took off after the girls. Erin's wolf was amber in color with streaks of white. My wolf, almost double her size, was massive. So black in color we almost looked blue. The wind was racing through our fur as our paws pounded the ground. I mind linked a few of the warriors and my beta, omega and delta. I knew Gabe was dying to get there for Emily, and my boys had a lot of questions about my new mate.     As I feverishly tried to catch up to Celeste, I worried how the pack would truly receive her. Would my brothers accept her? Would they...             "Evan, shut UPPP... Of course they will accept her. She is their Luna. Yes, she is not a wolf, or even a Witch like we are sort of used to. She is a Vampire. But she will protect our pack! Look how strong she is, she is an old ancient Vampire, and she is kicking your ass right now hahahaha!" Erin said interrupting my worry party in my mind.      My head snapped up. She's right! These lady vamps are beating me! "Dmitri! Get her!" I scolded my wolf.              "But I rather like the view man." he whimpered.      As I looked through the trees ahead, my eye sight still stable despite jumping and leaping through the air, I could see her. She was spectacular. The fastest thing I have ever seen, and Goddess she was strong. She looked like someone on Ninja Warrior, or one of those Parkour people except on Magical Steroids. She was just effortlessly dodging everything that came her way. She glanced back at me, still running full speed and whispered, "Come get me wolfy."     And that was it, I pumped my body faster than I ever had, Dmitri was buzzing in my mind, so excited for this chase. We both let out a yelp and began closing in on her. Just as I was but a stride behind her, she was gone. She just flipped in the air and up over my head, landing on the ground behind me without so much as a sound. She stalked up to me, as we circled each other, my tail was wagging and I knew my tongue was hanging out of my mouth like a love sick puppy. She was smiling, and if I wasn't her mate, that sinister smile would have made me piss myself.                  "Our mate is the s**t. LOOK AT HER!" Dmitri yelled in my head, pride filling my mind and my heart.      And then she pounced on me, taking me strait to the ground. She laid above me, me under her in my wolf form, and began to stroke the fur on my face. I couldn't help the low playful growl that escaped my chest.          "My wolfy, I can not wait to play with you, but we have to keep going. We are almost there." she said.          She was right, this wasn't the time. I cursed myself for getting carried away when there was so much at stake. We jumped up and caught the snickering of Erin and Norah. We kept going through the woods, as a unit. It felt so natural with these guys. I was so happy with them until we broke through the tree line and entered the desolate property that once was Lambertville Coven.
