"Good evening, Lady Dorothy."
As a part of the character, she greets her back. There is one thing she has made a resolution about and that is, not to let the transmigrated lady know that she had as well transmigrated to the villainess's body. She wasn't sure how her reaction would be, delighted or afflicted.
Revealing her identity early would be troublesome when she has yet to grab to what her expectation would be. When she thought about it, one thing she understood was that, that Butler did not reveal another person transmigrating to the same novel. If she knew, she would have come forward to look for her.
If Lucien plans to reveal herself to her to justify that she wants nothing to do with the empress or the harem thing, she needs to gather more information about Dorothy, a character that was never mentioned in the novel or someone, she missed remembering.
As far as she has thought about it, Dorothy was a nameless character who should not be involved in this kind of situation.
Lucien decided to walk through the garden when she was on her way back to her chamber. It was unexpected to suddenly meet Dorothy or not.
"I was just passing by and noticed you were walking this way. Were you perhaps leaving for your chamber?"
There wasn't the slightest hint of what was behind those smiles. To anyone, it would look like an angelic smile. But for Lucien, it gave her an eerie feeling.
"Yes, I am," Lucien plainly responded with a smile that appears fake to anyone. "I apparently took a much longer nap than I expected. If you please excuse me, I-"
"W-wait... I wanted to ask you something." Dorothy quickly interrupts with a desperate look.
"Lady Dorothy, forgive my intrusion however, my lady has to leave for other curriculum work." Rosetta interrupt before Lucien could respond.
"It's okay Rosetta," Lucien raises her hand towards her.
"And what do you wish to question?"
She turns towards Dorothy.
"If it wasn't a bother, would Lady Lucien like to have a cup of tea with me in the garden?" Dorothy nervously questioned trying not to look up at her.
Lucien sighs, "Lady Dorothy, I'm grateful for the invitation. However, it seems you have a poor memory." Lucien wanted nothing but to be away from her.
Dorothy bewilderedly raises her head to meet Lucien's unpleasant gaze. "As I've mentioned before, I do not prefer to have tea at dusk." It was true that the sun was no more across the sky but only its rays splashed through the endless sky. "However, if you wish to have another tea, I would send you an invitation to my chamber. Now then, please excuse me." She bows her head a little and walked past her.
"Do you perhaps detest me, Lady Lucien?"
"Huh?"
Lucien held her step and turned around with an unexpected question.
"Was it because I informed you about how I was able to see your future?"
"Lady Dorothy, what do you mean?"
Dorothy already had tears filled across her eyes with ruby cheeks and nose. "I was hoping to make an amend with you when I spoke those harsh words. I only did because I was told to."
'Oi! Is this girl for real? She is crying?'
"Lady Dorothy, I think this is certainly a misunderstanding." Lucien didn't panic rather astonished.
"I-I apologize, Lady Lucien," Dorothy wipes her falling tears across her cheeks. "I will not bother you again. It was a mistake of mine to simply invite you for tea."
"I–"
"My lady."
A deep male voice interrupted. It was an unexpected person who appeared out of nowhere surprising Lucien. 'Who?'
"Ah, Sir Sebastian, I apologize for making you wait," Dorothy wasn't surprised to see that stranger. She had hurriedly wiped her tears with the back of her palm out of embarrassment.
'Sebastian...? Who?'
"My lady, here."
The person was no other than Sebastian. He took out a handkerchief from his robe and hands it to Dorothy. "Don't use your hand."
"T-thank you.." Dorothy shyly took it, her cheeks turning ruddy.
'Wait, hold on. Why do I feel like I'm a third wheel here?'
Lucien's eyes twitch at the sight of these fake couples who have been completely mesmerized by their own world. She felt as though she wasn't needed here and has no need for her to be here. In other words, 'get lost' was the correct word to describe this situation.
Lucien didn't have to wait for them to notice that she was still standing. Rosetta didn't feel like staying as well. Lucien turns around to continue her walk, however.
"Pardon me, my lady," the man who noticed Lucien was leaving interrupts, to make her halt her walk.
Of course, Lucien promptly turns around.
"I believe there is something you should be doing." Sebastian had moved a few steps forward. "It's particularly unpleasant to see a lady retiring without acknowledging one's own mistakes."
"A-ah, No, it's...it's okay." Dorothy interrupts with a surprised look. "It was a misunderstanding and it was my mistake."
Lucien stares and stares, 'oh I see. This would make me look like I did something wrong to her. Even Dorothy's plead would make it look like I am the guilty person.'
"Forgive me, Sir Magician," Rosetta interrupts walking forward.
'Magician? He is a Magician?' Lucien's mind echoed.
"If you would walk in at the end of the conversation between two ladies, it would probably look like my lady is at fault. However, it's not wise to judge someone without comprehending what had happened."
Sebastian gave a steel look to the maid who had the guts to stand up for her lady. "If that's the issue then let me heed wh–"
"Stop," however Lucien interrupts again.
"Rosetta, you may stay back," she ordered, and her maid obediently obeyed.
"Forgive me, Sir. She is my maid and she would gladly support her master by any means. I hope you would forgive her." Lucien bowed making sure not to create any commotion when she just met a new face.
"And as you have said," she raises her head with a gaze that was filled with no sentiment. Her tone was gentle and elegant not the slightest sound of anger or annoyance. 'This is truly frustrating.' "I will atone for my mistake."
Lucien suddenly kneels, head laid low. "Lady Dorothy, I deeply apologize for what I've spoken to you earlier. My behavior has made you uncomfortable, I hope you'll forgive this lady who is kneeling in front of you for I am nothing but an unlawful person."
Sebastian and as well as Dorothy was taken aback by her sudden change of attitude. This wasn't something the male figure was expecting. "I'll make sure to receive your invitation when you send me in due time." And Lucien finally stood up.
"Well then, I hope this has satisfied your hostility, Sir." Sebastian was silent when Lucien met his gaze.
"Have a pleasant evening," Lucien left with another bow with Rosetta following her behind.
"My lady, why did you do that?" Rosetta questioned with an irritating tone. "It was certainly her fault to begin with."
"It doesn't matter who is wrong or who is right." Lucien walks forward without a smile. "Dragging things would make things more complicated and I do not wish to be tied up."
'So, the 4th character has finally appeared and I can see what Dorothy is trying to do.'
Lucien was about to rage out when she was misunderstood to be the guilty person. However, she finally remembered that the man who was defending Dorothy was the 4th male lead. She calms herself down and apologizes in a way that would make anyone uncomfortable.
'Tch!! She is trying to build her own harem. How annoying.'
