Chapter - 33

A week ago . . The sky had turned dark and the stars could be seen twinkling across the black canvas. Lucien was yet to sleep even though she was in her nightgown. She had made herself seated in the living room with a quill on her right finger tapping against the white paper. "My lady, what are you doing?" Rosetta had left a few hours ago, however, appeared again with a complicated look. "It's time for your sleep." "I'm trying to write a letter and I know," Lucien responded without bothering to look at Rosetta.  Her gaze fixated on the blank page with an anxious look. "If it isn't an issue, who are you writing to in the middle of the night?" Rosetta stood a little further however, she could notice the emptiness on a white paper. "I solely have no idea." "......" There was no other way to look for the Flamingo families here but to dig through out of the palace. Lucien couldn't even bring herself to go out without a particular reason. She just happened to realize that there were guards who would follow the consorts even when they were out of the palace and that wasn't something she wanted. If she wanted to do something for her own benefit, she would rather be alone. 'I couldn't even send Rosetta to look around for information, it will become more suspicious nor could I send Catherin uggg!!! This is so frustrating. I rather send someone who is more knowledgeable and quick.' "My lady, are you perhaps writing to one of your brothers?" Rosetta interrupted again. Lucien wasn't calming down. Her feet keep on tapping on the floor while her left hand was grasping the hair on her forehead. "Of course not, I–" her sentence got cut off halfway, and even her feet stops tapping. With bright eyes, she turned towards Rosetta. "Of course, I can write to my brothers. I have three brothers after all." "....." . . . . . A week had passed since that incident about writing the letter. Her appearance in this world as an antagonist character, she had forgotten that she had three older brothers though she had never met them. They were all very much occupied with their work and were hardly home. She just hopes that one of them would be able to read her letter. And as though her prayers were answered, a letter finally arrived from one of her brothers. "It's from Evelyn." Her eyes gleam when Rosetta hands her the letter. She was in the garden sitting on the empty bench under a shade tree. "Is this the first time you received a letter or the first time your brother sent you a letter?" Maria questioned who was serving a fresh fruit drink with some snacks. "It's both," Lucien simply answered and carefully opens the sealed letter. Maria didn't respond to anything in return when she was about to ask another question. Lucien had already engulfed into the white paper. Maria sighs and left with the trolley. Finally, after researching so much she eventually found what she had been looking for. The survivors from the Flamingo household which includes the maid and butlers; the entire servant were held captive were around 500. They were sold in the black market. Her hand gripped harder on the paper, reading the sentence 'sold in the black market', it didn't made her feel any good. And the number of the captive was 500. Her brother ended the letter by saying, he'll let her know if he was able to find anything again. "What an amazing brother I have." She mumbled laying back, her head stretching towards the sky. Evelyn was her third older brother. The older was Claudius, the second was Gladys and the third was Evelyn, and finally, the last and the only sister of them. It was sad to say that she knows nothing about them. The author never mentioned them or they were never revealed in the novel. However, it seems like they will likely be making an appearance. She had seen their portraits hung up on the wall and according to her, they were outstanding. Her only worry was that if she met them, how was she supposed to conduct herself. They were siblings and if they found a slight changed in her, they would be suspicious. It sends her chills if she thinks about dying in the hands of her brothers instead of the emperor's hand even before the plot begins. 'Why is death everywhere for me?' "Now that I think about it, what happened after I left that gazebo?" Lucien suddenly uttered looking up at the blue sky in between those branches and leaves. "Are you referring to Lady Dorothy, my lady?" Rosetta questioned who hasn't left yet. Lucien simply nodded her head, her hand still holding the letter as it spreads across the top of the back seat. "It's unfortunate to say but I've no information." ~ ~ *~we know~ we know~ we know~* A little voice echoed from below. Lucien lifts her head straight and looks below. Some flowers were giggling as they spoke. *~we have heard about it~* *~yes, they told us~* *~he..he...he... Pity I say...~* *~very pity...very pity~* Lucien didn't question but simply looks. She wonders how she was able to hear when she hasn't activated her ability. *~the emperor left after you left, my lady~* *~yes...yes~he didn't bother to take his tea nor did he speak anything when he was leaving~* *~yes...yes...~* *~how about that knight?~* One of them began to questioned as though it was a very interesting topic. *~That Sir Ajex, he left after he sipped his tea~* The flowers giggle more among them. If anyone were to hear they might be horrified to their death. *~if anyone was left, it was Lady Dorothy...he..he...and did you know what happened after that?~* *~what happened?~* *~what happened?~* *~she threw the cup on the floor she was sipping.~* *~oh my!!! What an arrogant lady~* ~ ~ And they all laugh again. Lucien didn't think something like this to turn out. It seems like Dorothy was unable to make any attempt to have a conversation.  She snickers which made Rosetta send a confused look toward her. She didn't hear anything except for Lucien. Just then a photo slips out from the letter. Lucien's eyes widen when she noticed the picture of who they were. "Oh my! It's the Flamingo family." Rosetta commented when she noticed as well. It was back when the emperor was young with one wife and a young boy on her lap. They truly made a wonderful family. The picture was taken somewhere out of the garden in their palace. As Lucien was scanning the photo in delight, her gaze was locked on a particular person which wasn't part of the photo session. "Rosetta, do you know them?" She points her hand at the person which wasn't too far away. Rosetta leans down and noticed who she was pointing at. "I am not confident nevertheless it's most likely an important guest somewhere out of the empire kingdom." Lucien couldn't believe what she had just seen. It was a picture of a lady and that lady was wearing a kimono, a Japanese kimono. She had never thought of an Asian character to be present in this world. 'Will I be able to go back to my homeland?' Even if she couldn't go back to her world maybe it could be possible for her to live where she was from. Her thoughts wouldn't stop echoing that she could escape now from this hell. "Will there be anyone to comprehend where this lady is from?" "If I am not mistaken perhaps, Lily's brother might know," Rosetta responded to Lucien's question. Of course, Lily's brother was a merchant who traveled around. Finally, she could see a ray of hope glinting toward her. Without any further ado, Lucien asked about the last letter she let Rosetta deliver, she was yet to received a reply. Her face brightens up and she made her way to the library to look for more information about this world the author created.
