ALEX SAYS HE DOESN’T want to wait around and get spotted again, so Paul suggests they get their sushi to go rather than bailing. Alex agrees, looking relieved and grateful. Paul wonders at that; it doesn’t seem hard to be kind about whatever reservations Alex fairly has about being in the world. Paul is starting to recognize that there may be a learning curve here for the both of them. In the car he hands Alex his iPod and tells him to pick the music. It works reasonably well to distract Alex from his funk. By the time they pull into Paul’s street they’re arguing over the merits of various shitty country-pop bands.
