“Thanks.” Alex takes a tentative sip of the wine. He’s not used to being served dinner like this, not by a man interested, apparently, in wooing him. Business dinners with expensive food and wines he can’t pronounce are becoming somewhat of a norm for him. But this — sharing food in someone’s house — is not. Alex’s life jumped from one extreme to the other. In those moments where he lands in the middle — in what might be called normal — he has no idea what to do. It can’t be harder than anything else he’s dealt with in his life.
