36 Alex’s mom arrives the afternoon before Christmas Eve. For the first couple of hours it’s bizarre. This is not Alex’s city, he hardly knows what his life is, and being with his mother makes him feel vividly like who he was before. He tries to see himself through her eyes but doesn’t know what to make of himself. They haven’t seen each other since last Christmas when Alex flew her out to L.A. Despite the time they spend on the phone together, they’re both unsure around each other for the first few hours.
