Chapter 8

*Lilith* After the conversation with Elias, I walked myself back to my room. Going back to the dining halls wasn’t an option I was going to take, especially with my thoughts going haywire at the deal Elias proposed to me. I was going home and my mate was bringing resources to restore my pack. A smile placed itself on my lips as I leaned against a nearby pillar. The thoughts I had about my mate previously melted away as new thoughts came through. Thoughts about the progress we could make in my pack together. “See, he isn’t so bad is he?” Juno chuckled. I narrowed my eyes but blushed slightly. “We will just have to see,” I muttered to her. My heart wasn’t ready to forgive him for everything he did to me. Not just to me, but to my family as well. I pushed myself off the pillar and walked up the stairs towards my room. As I neared the door, I quickly noticed that it was opened just slightly. Weird. I could have sworn I closed the door behind me. I was just close enough now to peek through the opening and what I saw made my heart nearly stop. Clothes were thrown about the floor, drawers were opened and obviously gone through. None of that concerned me, but what did was the person in dark clothing standing near my nightstand going through a book I found in the room earlier about the history of the pack. They had a masculine look about them, so I could guess that it was a man in the room. He flipped the pages quickly to the middle of the book and pulled out an envelope with a blood red emblem on the front. I leaned more on the door to get a closer look to possibly see a written name on the envelope. Just as the man placed it in his pocket, the door gave way and I fell into the room, causing the man to quickly look at me. The world seemed to stop in place with me lying on the floor and the mystery man glancing down at me and we stayed like that for a split second before he raced towards a nearby window. I immediately stood up and went after him before he could escape. My hand wrapped around his leg just as he tried to hoist himself up on the window sill, causing us both to fall onto the floor. He turned to glare at me and tried to kick me in the face, which I luckily avoided and pushed myself up trying so I could alarm the guards. “INTRU-” A hand went around my mouth roughly and I clawed at the stranger’s hand, desperate to get free. “Quick let me through!” Juno called out and I willingly let her out. Juno took over quickly and she backed us up onto a wall roughly. The man had the breath knocked out of him and his grip on me loosened enough for Juno to escape and turn around and with a quick sweep of our leg, he was on the ground once more. Juno made sure he was on his stomach before placing the man’s hands behind his back and applied pressure to make sure he stayed on the ground before she let me back in control. “Don’t let him escape.” She growled in warning as I controlled my breathing. Switching places like that without concentration took a lot out of me. Especially in situations such as this. The man beneath me struggled against me, trying to escape, which only made it worse for him. I growled and twisted his arm up a bit more, causing him to grit his teeth in pain. “Why are you here?” I tried questioning him but he stayed silent as I went on. “Are you working with someone? What did you take from the book?” He chuckled darkly and sighed in boredom.“Are you done?” He asked as he glanced at me from where he was. “No,” I answered defiantly, “Are you working with the rogue wolves who caused a misunderstanding between the packs?” “Yes and no.” He hinted with a smirk which caused a growl to erupt from my throat. “Are you or are you not? That was the question I asked. Now answer it.” I snarled. “Quite the temper, Luna.” Luna? I’m not a- I shook my head at his words and looked around to see if there was a way to keep him down while I went to get Elias or anyone, really. That was a mistake. The man took my distraction as a chance and used all his strength to throw me off of him. I crashed into the nightstand near us, causing the lamp to fall with a loud crash. “What did I just say!?” Juno snarled at me in frustration. Ignoring her, I quickly glanced up to see the intruder on the window sill, the cloth around his face had fallen onto the floor and I noticed he had shoulder-length dark hair as the wind swept through it softly. His eyes were the darkest shade with a white tint in them from the fallen lamp. It was like looking upon a fallen angel from the shadows. Voices could be heard nearing my room as the man merely smirked at me as the shadows around me seemed to get closer. “I shall see you very soon, my Luna.” With that, he fell backwards out of the window without a single word. A gasp escaped my mouth and I ran towards the window; but when I looked down, the man simply disappeared without a trace. What the actual hell? My door slammed open and I was relieved to find that it was Elias and a few guards, one of them being Parker. Elias’s eyes looked at the mess before they met mine. He immediately came forward and took hold of my hands, looking for any injuries on my body. “What happened here?” He asked and I was at a loss for words. I didn’t know. It all happened so quickly. Too fast for me to even process. “A man broke into my room. I think he was searching for something or information? I don’t know. I couldn’t get any questions out of him-“ “Wait. You tried to fight him off yourself? Why didn’t you call for help?” He questioned me. “I tried. He stopped me from calling out.” I defended myself while he tried to compose himself. “I’m sorry.” He looked at me and sighed. “Do you know if he took anything?” I nodded and picked up the book from off the ground. Confused, he took it from my hands and gave me a look. “He took a letter from inside this book. I don’t know what it was or who it was for, but I do know that whatever it was, it was important enough to break into the pack.” Elias stood in silence, several thoughts crossing his mind as he tried to gather what happened and possibly why. “This belonged to my brother.” he spoke, which caused me to furrow my brows in confusion. Before I could ask, he turned away from me and walked towards the guards. “I want every inch of this pack searched! Find the man who broke into Luna Myers' room now!” They nodded and went to do what their alpha instructed. Parker was the only one who stayed behind as Elias walked to him. “Go to my parents and inform them of the incident tonight. Also tell them that I will be taking Luna Myers back to her pack. It isn’t safe for her here.” Parker nodded and looked at me slightly before glancing at Elias. “They will be wondering about the traveling arrangements, Alpha Reyes. What should I tell them?” “Tell them not to worry about that, it is already taken care of.” He turned away from Parker and to me instead. “We leave tonight.” He turned and left the room without another word. Parker spared me a worried look before following after Elias, leaving me alone in my room. I hesitated for a second before throwing clothes into my bag and quickly leaving the room and walking down the hall to wherever my mate went. Well this was one hell of a night.
