Lilith’s POV
I ignored Elias’s stares as I sat down beside him. His gaze was burning into my skin.
“So how was training?” Luna Vanessa asked causing me to lift my eyes up to meet hers.
“It was certainly unexpected,” I started, my answer causing looks of question, “and by unexpected I mean it was more than what I imagined. The arena was far better than any I’ve seen. In fact I trained with Parker, one of the-“
“Royal Guards.”
Elias interrupted my sentence with disgust at Parkers name.
“He is a friend.” I protested in which he responded by laughing.
“Sweetheart, if you think anyone here is your friend, you are sadly mistaken and an idiot.”
I was taken aback slightly by his cruel words and I tightened my grip around a steak-knife.
“Forgive my son, he is clearly drunk.” Luna Vanessa spoke as she folded her hands together, trying to assess the situation cautiously.
“Drunk is an understatement mother.” He chuckled.
I narrowed my eyes at his behavior. Not even a second later, servants came through the double door leading to the kitchen and placed bowls of soup in front of us.
I glanced down at the food substance in front of me suspiciously.
“Potato Soup.”
I looked up at Luna Vanessa and noticed her staring at me with a soft smile.
“Excuse me?”
“You were staring down at the bowl like a monster was going to jump out at you.” She chuckled and I felt my face go red with embarrassment.
“I didn’t mean to offend you-“
Luna Vanessa waved her hand at my words “Nonsense dear.”
I slowly ate the soup while the Luna turned he attention back to her husband to talk more about Pack business.
“You look lovely this evening.”
I turned to see Elias glancing at me from the corner of his eye slightly while eating.
“Thank you.” I said in a low tone. I wasn’t in the mood to deal with my mate, especially if he was drunk.
“Why don’t we get out of here and get more aquatinted with one another.”
Before I could say a word, Elias quite literally dragged me out of the room.
He walked me outside and towards what looked like a huge garden area.
“Let go of me.” I protested, trying my best to get out of his grasp.
With a growl, he tightened his grip on my wrist and pulled me forward.
“Stop being a brat and just listen for once.” He demanded.
“I wouldn’t have to be a brat if you would just stop being an ass towards me.” I huffed.
He slowly lets go of me and after a minute of silence we walked side by side.
The moon shined a silvery light down on the garden creating a mystical look. I looked up to see several fireflies created an illusion of stars as they spoke amongst themselves use their gifted light.
In the center of the garden was a white stoned gazebo covered in vines of moonflowers, which seemed to glow in the silver night. The ground around the gazebo was replaced by a river flowing through the garden, nurturing every plant in the garden.
“Why did you bring me out here Alpha Reyes.” I asked as we got to the gazebo and sat down on the bench.
“To get better acquainted with my mate of course.” He answered my question but I knew deep down that wasn’t correct.
“The real reason.”
He glanced around and let of a breath of air.
“You ask too many questions-“
“And you answer none of them.” I interrupted him quickly.
“You play this game with me. You toy with me. One minute you want to act like you care and then next you are a complete jackass.” I explain as he doesn’t even spare me a look. “I do not understand it.”
I sat back and sighed deeply.
“I don’t understand any of it.” I whispered to myself as the sound crickets filled the silence between us.
“I want to make a deal.” Elias informed.
“A deal?” I gave him a confused look. “What kind of deal?”
“We all know what I did to your pack was terrible and a price must be paid.” He started and he looked at me for permission to continue.
I nodded and he sighed.
“You may return back to your pack and stay there until the problem of the rogues has been dealt with.”
I felt my heart skip a beat at his words.
I can go home?
“You may return home, but I will be coming with you. As the future alpha of this pack and your mate, it is my duty to care of anything that comes to my attention. I ruined your home and I want to help fix it.”
He took my hands and I stopped breathing for a second.
Is this some kind of trick?
“I want to start over.”
What? Start over?
“I-“
He stuck his hand out towards me and I was surprised at how nervous he seemed.
It was almost..
Cute.
“My name is Elias Reyes.”
I glanced at him for a second and realized that everything he said was genuine.
I was going to go home.
And he was going to help me.
I took his hand and gave it a small shake, giving him a smile.
“Hello Elias, I’m Lilith.”
We stared at each other for a second before he cleared his thought and stood up.
“I’ll speak to my parents about traveling arrangements and the needed resources.”
He stood to leave but stopped.
“I’m glad we could start over Lili.”
I watched him leave the garden and out of mg sight as I just sat there wonder what the hell happened.
I looked up at the moon and smiled.
“I’m going home.”
