Lilith’s POV
It took us three days before we pulled up to a large gate. The men stationed as guards stared as my captor got out of the vehicle.
My attention strayed off to the car door and glanced up to see an older man with peppered black hair gathered my captor in a welcoming hug.
“Alpha Reyes, my son.”
Alpha Reyes?
He was the leader of the most successful pack in the country, not to mention he set up funds for packs who could barely make it by.
So, why did he attack mine?
That murderer will pay. Juno was growing restless with anger.
You must be patient, we can’t just kill him now. We’ll die in the process before we can even get back home.
Juno growled at my response but knew I was right.
I promise I’ll get us out of here..
My thoughts were interrupted when the car door opened and the bright sunlight blinded my vision.
It took a few seconds for my eyes to recover before I was roughly, taken out of the vehicle and pushed towards Alpha Reyes.
His eyes bore into mine and I felt our bond spark through my body causing my legs to feel like jelly.
“Father meet Lili, my-“
“It’s Lilith!” I snarled causing both men to look at me.
The older man gave his son a suspicious glance before walking over to me.
“Elias, what is the meaning of this?”
Alpha Reyes, or should I say Elias, clenched his jaw and looked away from his fathers glance.
I chuckled darkly and stood up straight.
“Your son attacked our pack this morning and took me hostage.”
I watched as the man in front of me glared at his son.
“You did what?”
Elias gave me a look of hatred before looking at his father.
“They need to know what happens when they mess with us-“
“You may have started a war! Do you not realize the cause of your selfish actions!?” He snarled.
“Selfish? I did what I had to do to insure the pack’s safety-“
“What a mighty fine job your doing.” I said to myself, but I suppose he heard me because next thing I know, Alpha Reyes is in front of me. His hand gripped my forearm tightly and his smell was intoxicating.
“Let her go.”
A women’s voice sounded and Elias reluctantly let go, but not before snarling lightly at me and going to his father’s side.
My eyes look up to see a lovely in her late 30s walk up to me. She had wavy brown hair and gorgeous light green eyes. Her skin looked flawless, like she was a goddess herself.
“Mother I-“
She dismissed her son with a wave of her hand as she studied me.
“What is your name child?”
I gulped and picked at my torn gown.
“Lilith. Lilith Myers of the Running Waters Pack.”
His mother gave me a look of pity before it turned to anger.
“Is this what we taught you to do Elias? Attack packs? Kidnap young girls and take them away from their homes?”
“You don’t understand-“
“Oh I don’t understand? I’ve been in countless wars my son, I think I understand plenty.”
He glanced down angrily at his mothers words, unable to comprehend why they couldn’t understand his motives.
Good, he deserves to be scolded. My wolf chuckled and I shook my head.
He deserves way more than just scolding.
“She is my mate.” He stated and his mother scoffed.
“That makes it so much better. Have you lost your mind?”
“Have you lost yours?” He screamed back. “They attacked our pack not even a month ago and you are acting like it never happened!”
He glared at me.
“Her pack killed Samuel.”
Samuel?
I looked at his parents and noticed their gloomed faces.
Attack?
What is he talking about?
“We never attacked you?” I spoke out causing them to look at me.
“Don’t lie!” Elias snarled and went run at me but his father stopped him.
“I’m telling the truth. You can even give me a truth serum. My pack never attacked you. Our Alpha could never hurt other people unlike you.” I pointed as my blood boiled.
“Bring the girl to the Main House.” His father ordered one of the guards
“But-“ Elias started but was cut off.
“That is my decision. You brought her here, she is yours to care for while we clean up your mess!”
And with that, his parents walked away leaving me with their cruel son.
I glanced at Elias and gulped when I realized that he had been looking at me.
I was thankful when a guard touched my shoulder lightly.
“Follow me this way.”
I smiled lightly and followed the guard, leaving Elias alone as he grabbed his neck and kicked a nearby rock in frustration.
~*~
When we arrived at the Main House, my jaw dropped at how beautiful it was.
The house was two stories with a penthouse on top of the second floor, I’m assuming it was the Alpha’s main office, the exterior was dark stone and large windows were on either side of the front door. There was a nearby fountain with white roses surrounding it and the walkway leading to the house was made up larger stones.
I enjoyed taking in the scenery as we walked closer towards the door.
Elias was trailing slowly behind us and I could feel his glare on me, practically burning a hole through my head.
“If you think the exterior is amazing, wait till you see the inside.” The guard said to me as he turned the doorknob and led me inside.
And he was right, the interior was even more gorgeous than I could imagine.
Fancy.
Way too fancy.
I heard my wolf reply and I just sighed.
The design of the house seemed to be dark toned with little bits and pieces of gold or white.
The furniture was black, but some of the decor around was gold and the floor was mixed marble of black and white.
As we walked past the living room I gasped at how big the fireplace was and the tv mounted above it.
The guard chuckled at me softly and Elias shoved past us, growling at the guard.
“Parker, Instead of flirting with my mate, why don’t f**k off somewhere else.”
Parker, the guards name, glanced down at me and I begged him silently not to leave me alone with his Alpha.
“Elias leave the poor man alone.” I heard the door close and was surprised to see his mother again so soon.
She walked straight to me with a smile.
“Ignore my son, we have lots to speak of. But first-“ she glanced down at my tattered clothes. “Let’s get you cleaned up and settled.”
She gave me a soft smile before turning around to her son.
“Office now, your father will be there soon to hear how you intend to clean up this mess.”
I glanced at Elias as he walked off, never saying a single word to me or anyone.
“Don’t fret over him, he’ll get over his..attitude.”
She led me upstairs towards a nearby room.
“As our guest, you’ll be staying in this room.”
The room was beautiful. A dark grey queen size bed was in the middle of the room with at least five pillows on it.
I let my fingers run over the fabric and was amazed at how soft it felt. Almost like an actual cloud.
A grey vanity with lots of light around the mirror was just to the right of the room and I smiled at how amazing that was.
And just when I thought it couldn’t be any better, I peeked into the bathroom and gasped.
The shower was huge with a shower head on the ceiling and benches on the side, the tub was black marble and I could barely reach over and touch the bottom.
I could really go for a bath right now.
“I can’t accept this Mrs. Reyes. It is just too much.”
I told her and she just rolled her eyes.
“Please call me Vanessa and after all you’ve been through, you deserve this.”
She glanced sadly at me.
“I’m sorry my son did that to your pack. I don’t know what caused confusion between our packs, but I promise you we will get to the bottom of it and fix everything.”
I looked into her eyes and couldn’t help but trust her.
“It’s not your fault. Eli- Alpha Reyes, did this.”
She looked away with a sigh and sat on the bed. I decided to sit beside her and rest for a small moment.
Silence passed between us for a few moments before she spoke.
“He wasn’t always like that you know? That night of the attack, he lost his older brother. Samuel.”
So that’s who Samuel is..was
I scolded Juno was speaking out of term and continued listening to Vanessa.
“That night changed him completely. I’m sorry you got that glimpse of my Elias. That first moment of your mate.”
Her eyes fixated on mine and I turned away. My mind thought of our first moments when we found out we were mates. How his hand gripped my jaw firmly. How he shot Matthew. How he took me away from my home. My family.
“One day, I hope you can forgive him for his mistakes.”
I shook my head at her request.
“I don’t think I could ever forgive your son. He hurt my family. He hurt me! His mate.” I blinked away tears and choked back a sob that threatened to escape my throat.
“I just can’t.”
She took my hand and led me to the bathroom.
“I’ll leave you alone to clean up. I’ll have a maid bring clothes for you so don’t be alarmed if you hear someone coming into the bedroom.”
I bit my lip nervously and watched her leave, closing the bedroom door.
She is kind.
She is, but we can’t get attached.
I know..
I went to the large tub and turned the handles to the temperature I wanted and watched as the water filled up the tub. Steam rising from the hot water.
I hoped Juno wouldn’t let us get attached to this place. We couldn’t stay. Our family needed us.
And frankly, I needed them.
My thoughts faded away as I stepped into the tub and sank into the water.
My body seemed to feel better as I cleaned up, trying to make myself presentable for whatever I had to do after this.
I took my time in the bathroom to try and soothe my mind, but nothing seemed to erase the memory of Matthew being shot and Vivian crying for him.
I missed them, a lot. My heart clenched up at the thought of never seeing them again and I took the chance to hop out of the tub and get dressed.
I quickly wrapped a towel around me and walked to the bed.
My eyes glanced at a lovely red dress that was a soft silk. I was afraid that if I touched it, the dress would simply dissolve.
I carefully slipped the dress on and glanced at the vanity mirror.
I was surprised at how much skin was showing and trying to cover up places but failed.
The dress was above my knees and the back was open quite low.
I loved how the dress was off shoulder and fit my figure perfectly.
Fancy.
Business type fancy.
A pair of red heels stood at the door and I quickly slipped them on.
I didn’t bother much about my hair and quickly placed it in a messy, yet sorta elegant, style.
A maid walked in and announced that she was ordered to take me to where Luna Vanessa and her Alpha were waiting.
Seeing as I didn’t have much choice, I followed her without saying a word.
My eyes drifted around the get a visual map of where everything was to see if there was a chance to escape at some point. There were little to no guards inside the Main House from what I could see but that didn’t mean they weren’t outside.
The maid stopped at a double door and a guard opened it.
The office was, unlike the rest of the house, pure white with gold. Almost like I had just walked out of hell and into heaven.
Vanessa was standing above her husband, who was sitting in the desk chair, speaking in a low tone and seemed to be going over a spreadsheet of some sort with him.
Elias, I quickly noticed when I smelled his intoxicating scent, had his back turned to me. He was sitting in a lounging chair with his head leaning on his hand.
Vanessa looked up just as the guard closed the door after me.
She nudged her husband and he looked up at me.
“Ms. Myers, please have a seat.”
I looked over at Elias, who ignored my presence, before sitting the lounge chair beside his.
I starting fidgeting with the end of the dress like a nervous wreck.
Stop it! You’re going to make it seem like we’re nervous!
Juno growled softly.
We are!
The man stood up and sighed.
“I realized that I never introduced myself after our encounter this morning. My name is Ramon Reyes. Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack.”
The Dark Moon Pack.
My eyes widened in shock.
This was the same pack with whom we had a peace treaty with for years.
“We had a peace treaty with you.” I looked over at Elias and stood up.
“We had damn peace treaty and you screwed it up!? Do you realize at how many lives you took because of your selfishness!?” I yelled at him.
Finding out that we were supposed to be allied packs made everyone so much worse.
Elias stood up and got in my face before anyone could stop him.
We stood close enough to where our noses practically touched. Any closer and I would’ve kissed him.
“You attacked first.”
“How many times must I tell you? WE DIDN’T ATTACK YOUR PACK!”
A low growl erupted from his throat in warning and before he could say anything we were thrown into our chairs by an unknown force.
“Damn children. Grow up.”
A women with dark skin and dark curly hair walked in. She was dressed in a black jumpsuit that hugged her waist.
When she looked at me I felt calm immediately.
Witch.
Juno whispered and I realized that her aura must have a calming sense to it.
I noticed that her eyes were two different colors. One eye was green and the other was bright blue.
“Alpha. Luna.” She bowed her head towards Vanessa and Ramon.
She stood over near them and looked at Elias and I.
“She is right you know. Her pack didn’t attack us that night.”
At that moment, Elias looked at her in disbelief and shock.
“How do you-“
She stopped him mid sentence.
“I may not have the heightened sense of a wolf but I have my spells. Spells that are useful in tracking intruders and finding the truth.”
The truth was going to be uncovered and Elias, I knew, was going to regret everything.
