Chapter 10

*Lilith’s POV*

After the attack, Elias and I left the Dark Moon pack and headed down South-East.

Three days have passed and I was still shaken up after the events that night but I tried to look at the positive side of everything.

I was finally going home.

Elias told me that once we got to Running Waters, the resources from Harbor’s Bay should have arrived. Which meant that reconstruction for my pack would begin.

During the car ride, my thoughts strayed away to the change that happened over the course of the last seven days. The new relationship between Elias and I.

Just a few day ago, I thought of him as my enemy; today he was my ally.

I glanced over at him and felt a sense of affection for the man beside me. His icy blue gaze stared outside the window as though he was deep in thought.

“Everything alright?” I asked softly. He turned to me with a small smile and nodded.

“Just thinking of everything that happened and what will happen when we arrive at your pack.”

I gave him a confused glance as he stared at his hands. For a split second, he looked like a child being scolded.

“They aren’t going to be so trusting of a man who destroyed their home.” He stated with a sigh.

I opened my mouth to say something to comfort him but thought of everything he did and stopped myself from saying anything.

“Your right, you did horrible things to my family and the pack you were suppose to have a treaty with,” I started watching his face fall with regret. “But, you admitted your wrongs and you are trying to make up for it by providing resources.”

I took his hand and gave it a squeeze to reassure him.

Our eyes met and I smiled at him.

“It’s a start.”

He returned my smile just as the car stopped suddenly.

I glanced up just in time to see the familiar gate entrance leading to the Running Waters Pack.

A group of my pack members ran out almost immediately and surrounded our vehicle with their guns pointed at us.

“Otis, roll the window down and put your hands up. We mean them no harm.” Elias informed his guard as we sat there in silence. Otis did as he was ordered and the man closest to the drivers window stepped forward with caution.

“State your purpose for being here?”

“I come by order of Alpha Reyes of the Dark Moon Pack to safely deliver Lilith Myers and Elias Reyes to your pack.”

The man glanced over Otis’s shoulder and met my gaze as he scanned the back seat.

He stepped back from the vehicle and said something to the rest of the men, causing them to drop the guns to their sides.

“I want everyone out of the vehicle.”

I breathed a sigh of relief before I opened the door and stepped out onto familiar grounds.

The man who confronted Otis came up to me and scanned me for any injuries.

“Are these men any threat to you Lilith?” He asked, nodding towards Elias and Otis. I shook my head and went to my mate’s side.

“No, they are allies and he-“ I looked at Elias, “Is my mate.”

The man just looked at us and sighed.

Elias grew impatient and stepped in front of me, grabbing my hand.

“We need to speak with Alpha Johnson and his luna.”

The man looked at Elias with a suspicious look.

“They are busy with repairs that your pack caused. Sorry but you are going to need to wait.”

He turned to leave but I grabbed his arm, stopping him.

“Please. My sister needs to hear what he has to say.” I pleaded softly. He nodded after a moment of silence and walked towards the opened gate.

“I’ll lead you to them.”

Elias looked at me before I grabbed his hand and we walked after the guards.

My eyes wandered to the reconstruction of my pack. Most of the building were gone from the fire spreading to them after Elias attacked with his men.

It wouldn’t be too long before we could make actual progress with the resources that Elias provided.

As we reached the main pack house, my heart began racing with nervousness. I must have squeezed Elias’s hand a bit too tight because he winced a little and I immediately loosened my grip.

We entered the house and stopped in the living room as the guard turned and looked at us.

“They should be here in just minute. Until then, I leave you to return to my patrols.” He informed us but not before looked at me.

“It’s good to have you back Lilith.”

He walked out of the house, leaving Elias and I alone with only the sound of the grandfather clock in the corner ticking.

“Are you nervous?” I asked, trying to break the silence in the room.

Elias chuckled, looking me up and down.

“Are you?”

I scoffed.

“Of course I am. I have no idea how my sister is going to react when she sees you-“

Suddenly I heard the feet running down the stairs and I could’ve sworn I stopped breathing for a second.

“Well, we’re about to find out.” I heard Elias say as I immediately recognized my sister and Matthew at the foot of the stairs. Both looked surprised and relieved when they saw me.

Vivian started towards me but once her eyes landed on where Elias and I were holding hands, she stopped in her tracks and her eyes burned with rage at the sight of Elias.

Matthew, immediately at her side, held her arms and his eyes went back and forth between Elias and I.

“Explain. Now.”
