A small ray of light was piercing through my curtains, beaming straight into my face. "God! My Eyes!" I shouted to myself, groped the blanket and yanked it over my face. "It's my day off! Leave me alone!"
"Geez, you're so noisy!" I heard a familiar voice behind me so I turned my body around and meet with Emma's morning face. Her eyes was cute, swollen and bulged like a goldfish. Her blonde hair was rumpled everywhere.
"Who are you again?" I asked in a raspy voice. She ignored my questioned and continued to snore.
"You're definitely not Emma," I laughed at my own statement. She was staying over at mine because she lost her flat's key somewhere.
I blinked several times to remove some dust in my eyes and rubbed them before I got out of the bed. "hey--," I stopped in my tracks. "I should go back to sleep. It's my day off," I turned around and plopped down on the bed, instantly sleeping on my stomach.
My rest felt like a heaven with the flowers garden in it before Emma's hand shook my body. She smelled like a fresh shower and a little bit vanilla scent on her hair. Her eyes were less puffy, "Don't spend too much time in the shower or you gonna make me starve to death," She walked over the desk to put some light makeup on her face.
"I have a lot of surface area to wash!" I yawned.
"Really, What were exactly you doing there for 30 minutes?" She asked, her forehead creased.
"There's a lot that has to be done in the shower," I stated, my hands stayed on my waist. "I have to rinse my hair, use a scalp shampoo, use a conditioning shampoo, then brush my teeth and scrub—"
"Yeah yeah yeah--15 minutes, not more," She stated and I huffed in annoyance as I walked out of the room.
I decided to put on some denim jeans, a comfy grey sweater with a high neckline and pairs of statement earrings. My brown hair was tied into a messy bun as I took a quick glance in the mirror, "I guess it's okay since we're not going to impress anyone in the cafe."
________
The pavement were still covered in snow and the road itself was icy in many places.
"you're sleep talking," Emma admonished me about something I wasn't aware of. She said 'thank you' in a low voice to the waitress when her donut came.
"Is that bad?" I sliced my pancakes and shoved it to my mouth.
"How long have you been sleep talker?"
I shrugged. "How do I know? I've lived alone for 3 years,"
She opened her mouth, "--right."
"What did I say in my sleep?" I asked.
"You were talking about your Mom," she stopped munching her donut as I flashed her a bitter smile.
"Yeah--Sounds like me." The memories slowly returned. I now remembered what July said when she stayed over at mine. She heard me sleep talking for five minutes and the only words came out was about My mom. She said maybe I had just missed her and after she went home I decided to go to My Mom's funeral. She loved red roses so much so I brought lots of them and stayed there for two hours before the rain came.
"Fancy coming with me to the grave?"
"Someone's keeps staring at you," Emma ignored my questioned and sang in a low voice, her eyes back and forth to someone behind me.
"is someone we know?" I leaned closer to her and she shook her head. "I don't think we had a tattooed friend on the neck before," she half whispered.
My heart had stopped beating for a second and I turned my head around.
Oh.
My heart dropped slightly at the sight. The detector machine in my head said "it is not him."
I never saw his face. Red curly hair, pale skin, and a scar on his left eye were quite prominent to see, they were staring at me with so much hint of seriousness. My gaze landed on his tattoo, eight arrows in a radial pattern exactly similar to the one 'he' had so I might assume this guy was one of his friends. "Why is he looking at me?" I asked more to myself before turned my head back to Emma, "I don't have any idea."
It had been two weeks since my first encounter with Lucius. I thought I might never meet him again and the image of him was blurred and sorted into the short term memory. But today, the man's tattoo reminded me of Lucius and what happened on that night.
"Oh oh no. He's coming!!" Emma slightly panicked made my eyes widened instantly. What?!" Her eyes were frantically moved to him and me. "He's coming!" She repeated the words and hide her face with her palm as I stunned there, looking straight.
"Genevieve Mc Adam," my heart jolted for a second. His voice was heavy and authoritative. I found myself glanced up at him.
"Not me," Stupid answer but the words came out naturally.
And he, whom I knew nothing at all was touching his ear and mumbling in a low voice. "Let's go," Emma mouthed to me but I couldn't move. He would definitely stop me so I shook my head.
"You're Genevieve," He started looking at me. I braced myself as I put my fork and a knife to 'really' look at him in the eyes.
"Yes. What do you want then?"
