We were running and I could see the boat just ahead. Freedom was within reach and I smiled as I ran just behind them. We were going to get out of here and I was more than overjoyed. I slowed down when I heard a rustling sound behind me. I don’t know why I did that, but I stopped to listen. I didn’t know the whole plan, but I wasn’t about to let them stop us from leaving. I saw Warrity look behind him and just as I was about to raise my hand, a loud bang filled my ears. I wasn’t sure what it was but when I felt something hit me, I fell forward.
“No!” I heard War shout out, but I couldn’t move as the pain spread throughout my body.
“Go,” I whispered. “Go,” I said again as I tried to move my head to see them. The pain was overwhelming, and I couldn’t understand what had just happen
