Chapter 4

It's been a week since Licht started working on the villa and she's doing great at her job. Somehow they really don't clean that much but since the house was big it was still tiring. Clara and her has become good friends in the week they've been together and they learned many things about each other, they even referred to Maris as their mother in that place and Maris was happy with their presence. "To think that you have such a rough childhood and yet you're still so trong. I admire you for that." Maris said to Licht as she ruffled her hair and she gave her a small smile. "But don't you think hating all wolves is too extreme?" she asked knowing well that her own wolf was not happy for the hatred thrown at her because of a regular wolf killing a human. "No, I don't think so." Was her immediate reply to Maris, making the woman frown. "Well we have different opinions." Clara butted in seeing the different moods of the two. Maris sighed. 'Clara's right. The girl might have been traumatized to hate wolves that much.' her wolf said in understanding. 'Wow, I can't believe you didn't get angry and easily accepted it.' Maris replied to her wolf in astonishment. 'Well I just can't get angry with Litch, there is something about this girl. ' her wolf replied, there's just something about these gitls that made it want to protect them and Maris just shrugged, ignoring the itching thought. "You're right Clara, but anyways I'm really happy I hired the both of you. You are both strong and very hardworking." She said with a clap. The girls blushed deeply. "I'm not strong." Clara muttered, embarrassed, pink tinted her cheeks as she fiddled with her hands. "Yes Clara you're not just strong, you're kind too. I mean living your whole life in an orphanage is hard and now working hard for the other kids there is admirable." Licht told the girl in smiles. Looking at the clock, Maris stood up and straightened her uniform then she faced the two "Well, though I really love chattering with you girls we need to work. And by the way Lark is coming home tomorrow so we should really clean the house 'til it sparkles." she commanded and the two stood up to obey. -- As Clara and Licht continue their work, they fell into a serious conversation. "So our boss is coming home tomorrow, I'm very nervous right now." Clara admitted, while polishing one of the numerous statues in the house. Licht shrugged her shoulders, "Well in all honesty, I'm actually nervous too and a bit excited. For some reason." She stated, confusion painted on her face. "What do you think does he look like?" Clara wondered, trying to picture the owner of the house. The other girl hummed in thought, "You're right. We don't really know how he would look like. I mean there's not even one picture of him here!" Licht responded, though she pictured him as a broodingman perfect for the lonely atmosphere this house exudes. "Well we will see him tomorrow so let's not ponder on it too much. Let's just continue our work." she said heading to the other room to clean and Clara followed behind her. -- Finally the sun came up and the house was busy preparing for the arrival of Lark. "Uhmm, Maris now that I think about it how should we address him?" Licht asked while wiping the non-existing spot of dirt on the counter. "Hmm, well now that you mentions it, I guess you should call him master or Sir or something." Maris replied and Licht visibly changed in mood. "I feel like I'm just a slave calling someone master." She suddenly said, cringing and Maris laughed. "Well I guess it's not that fun calling someone master, huh." Licht just nodded, but what can she do, he was her master, at least while she was under his employ. "How do you call him?" Clara decided to ask out of curiosity, peering at the older woman. "Didn't I always refer him by his name?" Maris said to her, nonchalantly. "Eh, even in front of him?" They asked in shock. The older woman laughed at their reaction. "Of course, I've been with that guy since he was a baby, so I have the luxury to call him by his name." Maris said proudly. "What hour is he going home by the way?" Licht asked. "Probably before lunch or after." Maris told them. "Then we should prepare lunch now." She concluded and they started cooking. Clara arranged the table, while Maris will cooked the food, and Licht looked at the fridge for something to cook. "We don't have enough ingredients with the food we're making." Licht informed the two while she scavenged through the refrigerator in search for ingredients Maris clicked her tongue as she remembered, "Oh my, I forgot to buy groceries the last time that's why." Maris stated in panic. "Don't worry, we can easily buy at the grocery store, it's not so far." She said remembering the store she passed while going here. Though she had to traverse the forest again, thankfully there hadn't been any sights or sounds of a wolf after the first time she came here. So she didn't fear having the chance of encountering one. "Ok thanks, here are the things you should buy." Marris handed her a list of groceries and some money. Licht nodded at both women, "Well then I'm off." She saluted before running out of the house. "She's always so lively." Maris commented with a dloght chuckle as the young girl disappeared. "Yes she is. Well I guess we should prepare something while she's out." Clara suggested and the two started working again. -- Lark and John gave their final commands before they head back to the villa. "Are you sure you want to come back with me to the villa? I'm pretty sure you are needed with the training here." Lark asked John who just casually nodded his head. "The pack warriors can pick up where we left off and I'm pretty sure Andrew can take care of the rest of the trainings." he said to his alpha as they entered the car. "And maybe because I'm quite excited to see the new maids Maris said before we went back here." He playfully joked and he laughed when Lark gave him a hard glare. "Don't get so worked up I'm just joking. I want to help you form a decent plan about them so I tagged along." He told him seriously. Lark just frowned, he's really frustrated because he still can't extract something from that man to help him finish off those rogues. "You need to keep calm and level headed always." John said as he saw him clenched his fingers on the stirring wheel, turning his knuckles white and the wheel to bend a little. Lark noticed and willed himself to relax. "I know but these stupid attacks are starting to get to me." he replied irritated. He always had a plan and a solution for everything but this thing proved to be hard for him. -- Finally they arrived at the villa and he waited for the cars' engine to die before going out and John followed after him. "Hey Lark." John suddenly spoke when they are in front of the door. "What is it?" he asked in alert. "There is a human in your house, I can smell it." he said, his face was serious and Lark took a whiff of the air and realized that there really is a human inside his house. Perplexed, they both walked towards the front. He knocked on the door and waited for Maris to open it. Lark saw his beta looking strange and confused. "Are you alright?" he asked him, kind of worried. "I don't know." John said while his head was moving everywhere as if looking for something. "My wolf's been pacing and barking something at me but I can't understand it. Oh and when did your house smell of fresh rose and vanilla?" he asked him and Lark just gave him a weird look. "You're definitely not alright." He stated his head shaking, then the door burst open to reveal Maris standing there and she immediately engulfed the two in a hug. "How are you two?" she asked while giving the two a once over. "We're fine but we're really curious as to why there's a human smell in the house." Lark asked his maid in a serious tone and Maris just laughed. "Oh that? That's because the two maids I told you about are both humans." She said casually and a vein popped on Lark's head in irritation. "Why didn't you tell me? You know very well I don't like humans." He emphasized, Maris just frowned while crossing her arms on her chest. "You told me to do what I pleased, so I hired them. Besides they are helpful and nice so if you dare harm them or scare them off I'll beat you, you understand?" The old lady threatened him and he released a long sigh of defeat. "Fine, where are they?" He asked still annoyed, as they both entered the house. "Clara is in the kitchen preparing and Licht was at the grocery buying food." Maris said while bringing his suitcase up to his room. Lark can't understand why there is something like a tingling sensation when he heard the name of one of the girls but he just shrugged it off. "Hey where are you going?" John asked when he saw Lark heading towards the kitchen "I just want to see what kind of people Maris hired." He replied as he continued his trek towards the kitchen to meet one of his new maids. -- Clara was startled when she heard a knock on the front door and somehow she began to get more nervous. Especially that Licht was not there to give her comfort. Maris quickly went to get the door while she was left to finish the dish and organize the table. While placing the plates on the table, a commanding voice spoke from behind her. "Who are you?" he asked and Clara slowly turned towards the voice and saw a very handsome and intimidating man standing at the kitchen doors. She quickly bowed introducing herself to the stranger aware that he is the owner of the house. "U-uhm m-my name is Clara, s-sir your new m-maid." she stammered, almost crying as she was overwhelmed by the sheer aura of the man that's glaring daggers on her head. "Hey who are you talking to?" came a new, somehow melodic voice from outside. "One of my new maids." he introduced but she still held her head down. She felt the other man enter the room and suddenly she felt the air change. There was an unknown thing that is pulling her, making her want to look up but due to her fear and insecurities she willed herself to remain in her position. -- John was waiting for Lark when he heard his wolf commanding him to go and follow his alpha in the kitchen. Confused and bewildered he just obeyed him and went to kitchen Somehow every step he took, the smell of rose and vanilla is gradually becoming stronger and he took it in as if he was an addict. When he reached the kitchen he saw Lark standing by the doorway in front of a nervous looking girl with her head held down. He found out that the girl was one of the new maids given by Lark's response to his question. He observed the girl with interest and he has his suspicion that somehow this girl is going to very dear to his life. "Please don't bow and held your head up." John asked her politely and he observed how she hesitantly raised her head up. By the time their eyes locked the gibberish words of his wolf finally became understandable. "Mate!" his wolf howled joyfully on his head making him smile up to his ears and he was actually proud of himself because he had somehow able to restrain himslef from going up to her and hugging her all to him. But he did went nearer to her, unable to stop himself. Lark saw the change on his beta's face and he quickly understood what was happening. John found his mate. And he was happy for him but there was this heavy feeling of envy in his heart. He still haven't found his mate yet and seeing his beta and best friend happy upon finding his own was making him want to find his' already. He left the two knowing John would want to know his mate more in private. -- Clara looked up in hesitation when the man that accompanied her master Lark asked her to raise her head but once she did though she was looking at a devilishly good looking man and for her he was far more handsome than Lark or anyone for that matter. She observed him curiously and bashfully. He was tall probably over 6 feet in height, he has a dark brown hair and gentle brown eyes that seems to captivate her very soul. He has a nice body, perfectly toned and she can see his well-defined muscles through his tight shirt and jeans and she blushed scarlet for the things that are swirling on her mind. Not really noticing that her employer was gone and the man had approached her, she almost squealed in fright when a hand was placed in front of her face. She looked up once again and she saw him smiling at her with his outstretched hand. "Hello, so you are one of Larks new maid, I'm his best friend John, what's your name?" he asked gently and she looked at his hands deciding whether or not to grasp it. She decided to trust her instinct. She held her hand onto his and a spark travelled from her hands throughout her body sending shivers down her spine and she relished on its warmth and how perfectly her hand fitted his. Though his hand was rough and calloused, she admitted to herself that she loved holding it. With shyness on her voice she answered his earlier question "Nice to meet you sir John, my name is Clara." she stated loudly albeit shyly. John looked at his mate lovingly and he silently thanked Lark for giving him and her alone time for themselves. He noted her features. She has a long wavy copper hair and a pair of beautiful dark green eyes, she looks small and fragile and she's nervous and jittery but he found it cute. He can see that she's shy and he loved the color that now shaded her small face. He was delighted when she took his arms and given him her name. 'Clara, what a beautiful name, it fits her perfectly.' his wolf said in appreciation and he gladly agreed. Somehow the two fell into a light conversation and John was able to learn new things about his mate. Though he'd love to have her in his arms the thought of the rogues brought him back to reality. He would never let any of them get to her, so he decided to protect her without her knowing anything about him being a werewolf, yet. 'It's for her protection.' he thought as he gazed at Clara. -- Lark went towards the grand staircase ascending it as he went to his room on the second floor. He bumped into Maris while going up, startling the old woman. "Hey Lark where's John?" she asked him and though he was still in a rather sad mood, he answered. "He's with his mate." he told her vaguely but of course Maris easily caught on and she clapped in delight. "You mean Clara was his mate? Good for him, she was kind and strong even if she's only human." she praised and she was feeling elated knowing one of her boys has a mate. But her celebration was cut short when she saw Lark's gloomy expression on his face. She sighed as she placed a hand on his shoulder giving it a squeez, trying to give him hope. "I know you're going to find her, don't give up." she said with a small smile and he returned it with a sad one, he continued the rest of his way towards his room and Maris looked at the expanse of his back with a sorrowful expression on her face. Once he was in the confines of his room he sat on his chair in front of the fireplace. Beside it was an identical chair meant for his mate. He looked at it longingly as he envisioned himslef and his mate sharing the warmth of the fire talking and bonding together. "I really hope I can find her. I don't want her to be caught up in this mess but I still want her to be by my side." he said to himself once the daydream passed. "I pray to the moon goddess that I may see her in the nearest future." he said before standing up and flinging himself in his bed. What he doesn't know was that his wish is going to be fulfilled sooner than he had thought.
