On arriving at where Mr. khan was sitting, Leo greeted Mr khan respectfully.
"Good afternoon sir.”
“Afternoon Leo, how are you?” Mr khan said calmly
"Am good sir.”
“Glad to hear,” Mr khan stated with a warm smile.
Mr khan proceeds to ask. "Did you come here alone?”
" No, I came here with my uncle but, something urgent came up so he has to go back home,” Leo answered hesitantly.
" Ok, hope all is well.”
Mr khan was curious.
"All is well sir,” Leo said
Alina stood over there, watching them like a lifeless being. she didn't utter a single word.
"Alina dear.” Mr. Khan’s voice suddenly sounded in her mind
"yes dad,” Alina answered joltingly like a startled rabbit then she turned and looked at Mr. khan attentively waiting to hear what he will say.
"won't you take your ice cream?” Mr. Khan casually said.
"No dad… am ok,” Alina replied in a stammer.
“ is it because it has melted?.”
"No, am ok. I just don’t feel like it.” Alina said sharply, after the encounter with Leo, she seems to have lost her appetite, or rather she has lost her interest in doing anything.
"How about you Leo, what should I get you to take before the train's arrival.” Mr. Khan offered Leo upon seeing that he could not convince the stubborn Alina to take the ice cream. Inwardly, he felt regretful over the wastage of the ice cream. For God's sake the ice cream was very expensive, why would she ignore it like this.
Mr. Khan asked trying to pull out his wallet to offer something to Leo but Leo kindly rejected it.
"No sir, don't worry am ok.”
" Are you sure, you don't want anything?”
Leo nods his head in answer to Mr khan's question.
they all sat down on the bench and had a little chat While waiting for the train. In the time they spent on the bench, Leo was kind of shy of Mr. khan. he wasn't free with him… And Alina didn't really contribute to the chat because she was still having a guilty conscience. Not quite long, the train station alarm rang out, creating a sound that pulled everyone’s attention.
“Attention passengers, the second train is here. all the passengers that have successfully purchased the ticket should get ready to move in..”
“ I guess it's time for me to say goodbye to you, my dear daughter.”
“ said Mr khan looking at his daughter whose eyes were filled with the tears of departure. In the end, Alina gave her dad a warm hug while Leo helped her to move their luggage.
“ Alina, c'mon let go of your dad. We don’t have much time. said Leo when Alina refuse to let go of her dad, even after he finished storing both of their luggage inside the train.
“come here Leo.” Mr. Khan backend to Leo.
“my boy, please take care of her, I know she can be very stubborn but please watch over her…..” He said to Leo seriously when Alina suddenly cut in.
"dad, am not a child anymore, I can take care of myself.”
"will you shut up and let me finish. Mr. Khan said. Irritated when he was interrupted then he smiled strangely and stated to both of them “Anyway wish you all the very best in your exams.”
“Thank you very much, sir….” Leo said respectfully.
Mr. khan patted Leo on his back and mentioned “you're welcome my boy.”
After that, Alina and Leo entered into the train. Alina sat next to Leo but it seems like there's someone between them already.
Alina was still looking at her dad from the window when the train was about to take off. She waved at Mr. khan endlessly.
Mr. khan stared at her with a proud smile as the train took off and soon disappeared from his view, after that, he took a taxi back home.
Inside the train, Alina and Leo decided to pray, for a safe journey.
