30 minutes after Alina woke up, she had a strange bold, and cranky voice. It was the driver's voice asking all the students to get down from the bus quietly with their belongings...
As they arrive at the school. Alina couldn't see vividly.
She was walking reluctantly with her bags
Leo offer to help her, but she rejected his offer without any hesitation...
Baze university was an old and well_known school in the nation.
It had a gigantic building with a large compound filled with beautiful well_ arrange flowers ...
When Alina first stepped into the school she felt nervous because of the large crowd of people swarming around...
The school was just too beautiful, one could say the school wasn't even in Nigeria...The atmosphere of the school was bustling and full of life...students after students went to different lecture halls...
Not quite long, a tall dark skin lady wearing a blue suit came to them with a warm smile on her face...
"You are highly welcome to baze university.”
They all answered in chorus.
"Thank you, ma'am.”
“ I am Mrs. Sarah Smith, the school has personally assigned me to guide you all throughout your stay here and make sure you don't lack anything….
After the introduction, Mrs. Sarah assigned the hostel mistress to take the exam candidates to a convenient hostel.
Shortly, Alina and other exam candidates were directed to the school's second hostel, a tall story building that was well modeled to keep a large number of people.
On getting to the hostel, the exam candidates were all directed to their various temporary rooms in a manner that the boys stayed downstairs while the girls stayed upstairs. According to the arraignment, two students were assigned to a single room.
Alina and mara both ended up being assigned to the same room, Alina felt uncomfortable that she was going to stay with this arrogant rich girl. however, ……. On the other hand, mara felt delighted as this was her opportunity to pull Alina into her wings...
Within the building, the dorm was so convenient and well furnished one could feel at home...
The hostel mistress asks them to fresh up and comes down for their lunch...
After freshening up Alina and other exam candidates went down for their lunch
they were all served a very delicious meal... Hot rice and stew with beef and vegetables. they all had a great lunch...
Not quite long after the lunch, the candidates were directed to the school examination hall...
The exam candidates were welcomed by the school provost...
He was a dark tall man in his late 50s. He introduces himself as prof. William Brighton popularly known as prof. B
"You are highly welcome, Said, prof. B with a welcoming smile on his face, from his facial expression, one could say he was very pleased to meet the exam candidates.
"The School is holding its 20th annual scholarship exams and I hope you are all happy to be here……..”
“ Do you know why I have personally offered to host and address you all about the exams…”
“This year isn't like the other years that have passed...it's gonna be tougher and your last Paper is going to be cbt that is a computer-based test...”
“The most important part of this is that the first 3 top students will be given the opportunity to study any of course of his or her choice at Oxford University in England while those with average grades will get to study here in baze university...”
“I presume that you are all ready for the exams.”
They all answered as their voice echoed in the examination hall...
“ Now that's the spirit, I will leave you now to prepare for exams, the exams begin tomorrow at 10:00..note that we shall not tolerate any form of exam malpractice anyone cut in the act will face the consequences...”
“Best of luck”
“ Thank u, sir..”
All the exam candidates went back to their various rooms, the fact that Alina didn't get a single chance to talk to Leo, that borders her a lot. while Leo in his room was still thinking about Alina.
“I hope she's feeling much better now.. well she was looking much better earlier on at the hall...”
“ I guess will just find time to talk to her tomorrow morning before the exams.”
Alina in the room was trying to study when Mara walked in with two cups of ice cream offering one to Alina. Alina refused her offer but deep down she really want the ice cream...
In her head, she thought, “this mara, why does she have to tempt me with ice cream of all things, how is she even aware that I like ice cream?.”
After the rejection, Mara decided to keep the ice cream beside Alina and left…. To sit on her own side of the bunk… she cleared her throat well before saying.
“Alina, I know that because of what happened earlier on the train, you might be thinking that am a bad person. But am not like that I was just in a bad mood that’s all, I know that you are a kind girl and because of that I wanna make friends with you, if that's ok with you... Just give me a chance.”
After hearing Mara, Alina thought deep down in her mind. “ why is this girl being nice to me all of sudden...., maybe she it’s just as she had said, I should just give her a chance.”
Alina quietly replied her.
“ Mara, I don't hold any grudges against you, besides you are my roommate now...”
Mara cuts in.
“so are we ok now?”
“yes”
“Does that means we're friends..”
“ why not.”
Alina said gently with a warm smile...
“New friend why don't you have ice cream before it melts...”
They both laugh.
“ Sure will, after all, is the first gift from my friend..”
“OMG!!” Alina blurted in shock after rating the ice cream.
“What's it.. tell me if you don't like it will just throw it out...”
“No, you don't have to do that, I like it...how did u know my favorite flavor. ....said Alina asking surprisingly.”
“Ohh really”
“it's my favorite too….”
“Wow, cheers to our friendship.”
They both laugh...
