Chapter 20: Escape!

"Welcome back,,"You smirked upon seeing her.
"Annie Leonhardt." You added.
Quickly, you used your other leg and kicked her face sideways letting your other leg that was caught by Annie escape from her grasp. You landed swiftly and locked your eyes with her's.
"How did you get out?" You questioned, still in your fighting stance.
"Tchh, if i can create the crystal, then i can surely undo it. Simple." Annie said while maintaining her stoic expression.
"Out of all the days, why now?"
For a moment, there was silence when all of a sudden Annie burst out laughing like a mad woman. She gripped her stomach and started fidgeting while laughing.
"You really think I was encased in the crystal the whole entire time and got out like right now? PfffttBAHHAHAHA. I figured out that the soldiers don't really check on me. Instead, they stood by the door just in case if I escape. How dumb. I managed to undo the crystal and when I did, I heard about the news regarding Bertholdt & Reiner and.........Levi's marriage too."
Your breathing started to quicken as you stared at her wide-eyed. Levi, The guy that you loved, the one who stole your heart and shattered it into pieces.
"Tch,, That kind of guy doesn't deserve to live. Hah,, let me guess, you still like him don't you?"
"I-I ... Shut up!! Annie, why are you doing this?"
"I'll tell you right after you help me to escape."
"W-what??"

"Here, wear this cape!" You threw her your cape.
Annie donned the cape and covered her face with the hood.
"On three,,"
"1...." You whispered while holding on to the knob.
2.." Annie quietly said as you slowly turned the doorknob.
"3!" The both of you simultaneously shouted and flung the door opened.
You sent a hard punch to one of the soldiers with all your strength until he collapsed. Meanwhile, Annie elbowed the other soldier in the abdomen causing him to bent over. With that, she kicked him away as hard as she could and ran together with you.
"Where are we going now?" You puffed, still running.
"Outside the walls." Annie replied nonchalantly.
"WHAT?" You jeered upon hearing her words but she remained silent.
"Fine." You agreed, trusting her. You knew the only way to save Eren & Ymir was to follow her instructions. She will lead the way to them. And the three of them will be the one to explain the whole mess.
"But first,, we need horses." You told her.
You went to the stables with Annie secretly. After confirming no one was there, you took your horse and some random soldier's horse. Annie got on to the horse first while you struggled to get on it.
"The disadvantage of being short I see." Annie chuckled softly.
"S-short?!" You gasped. She hopped off the horse and helped you out. That shocked you for a moment. The side of Annie that you've never seen.
After getting on your white horse, you were about to snap the rein when someone stopped you.
"W-wait!" The voice came from behind.
You spun around only to discover Hanji looking puzzled.
"Where are you going and... Who is that?" She quizzed. You made a quick glance at Annie who was pulling the hood, as to hide her face.
"That? O-oh. Uhm,, that's just my friend... And w- we're about to go to this uhmm shop!"You lied and smiled nervously hoping not to get caught.
"But t-that's my horse....." She pointed at the horse that Annie was riding.

"H-Hanji...."
"Hm?"
"SSOORRRY....." W,ith that you galloped away with Annie following behind you. You could hear Hanji calling out for your name but you ignored. You felt guilty & kept apologising in your heart.
**Hanji's POV**
"Hanji ...." Y/n called out my name softly and shifted her gaze away not wanting to make an eye contact.
"Hm?"
"SORRY!" She cried and galloped off.
"Wait, Y/N-----"My words were then cut off when I saw something that surprised me. Something that I didn't expect.
"A-Annie?"
I caught a glimpse of what seemed like Annie. My eyes widened as millions of questions rushed in my mind.
"Dont tell me that ..... Y/n....is betraying us?"
**Y/N's POV**
You and Annie managed to escape the walls and was now galloping towards the Forest Of Giant Trees.
Both of you raced off when all of a sudden a sharp pain pierces through your arm. Surprised, you checked your arm and realised it had been shot by an arrow.
"s**t!" You pulled the arrow out and threw it away. You covered your bleeding arm as you winced at the pain.
"An arrow?" Annie panicked. Suddenly, another arrow was launched and it hit your horse's leg. The third arrow came and pierced Winter in the body. It neighed in pain and soon fell down causing you to hit the ground too. Your hands grazed along the ground and part of your skin tore off.
"Ouch!!"You cried. Annie stopped and hopped off.
"What's happening?"
"I d-dont know... I--- ANNIE LOOK OUT."
An arrow was about to hit Annie when she dodged just in time. You stood up and took out your blades as Annie stood im her fighting stance. You and Annie stood back to back.
"Show yourself, coward." Annie was pissed off. Another arrow was then shoot out causing both of you to separate. You puffed out of exhaustion when all of a sudden an arm wrapped around your neck. You jerked back and was suprised when you heard the voice.
"You don't deserve to live."
'That voice .... Could it be..?'
"Duck." Annie instructed. You squat down as her fist flew to the person's jaw causing her to stumble backwards. You spun around and immediately your eyes widened.
"Mother ........"
"DON'T CALL ME THAT." She shouted.
"I'M NOT YOUR MOTHER. AND YOU ARE NEVER MY DAUGHTER."
Annie frowned at her words as you bit your lower lips preventing yourself from crying.
"MONSTER. YOU SHOULD'VE DIE.JUST DIE ALREADY!!"She jeered.
"It's because of that injection you're a titan! And titans need to be KILLED!!"
She took out a pocket knife and lunged at you when you move sideways, dodging the attack. Annie kicked her away with her strength and with that she landed on the ground backwards. Annie stepped on her chest not wanting her to escape when all of a sudden she thrust the knife into Annie's leg and pulled it off.
"Arghhhh!" Annie crumpled to the floor. She kicked her away,turning her body and hovered over her.
"Y/n......" Annie struggled to call out your name as the knife drew in closer.
"T-Tatakai...Fight.."
'But I can't ... Afterall she is my mother .. I cant kill her no matter what Even though she tried to kill me,, I just cant do it..'
"If you cant kill her because she's your mother,, then tell me, what kind of mother would want to kill their own child?! She's not a mother. She doesn't deserve to be called a mother. SHE'S JUST A PATHETIC INSANE WOMAN."
"URUSAI!!!!" She raged and lunged the knife forward.
**Annie's POV**
I stared wide-eyed in surprise as the knife was about to pierce through me when all of a sudden a blade pierces through her from the back. The blood splattered on my face as her body fell to the ground. The blade was then pulled out from her body.
"(Y/n)...." I spoke softly as I could see her trembling and with that she fell to the ground while clutching her hair.
"What... Have... I... Done....?" She whispered as tears flowed continously from her eyes. I lowered my guard when all of a sudden a man stood behind (y/n) ready to attack her. Quickly & swiftly, I snatched (y/n)'s blade and thrust it right in to the man's heart. He coughed out blood and soon crumpled to the floor.
"Now who the f**k is this?" I frowned.
"Father....."
"Huh? Your father? Damnnnnnnn. What a cruel father. (Y/n), lets--" My words stopped when I saw y/n froze as she stared at the two bodies.
"They're gone... I've waited for years for them to return but ...." She covered her face and cried her heart out. I stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do. I mean i've never handled this kind of situation before. What am I supposed to do?
I sighed and hugged her tightly while patting her back.
"There there,, stop crying or else I'll kill you." I joked.
She looked at me in surprised and wiped her tears away.
"I'M NOT CRYING!! I'm just sweating through my eyes!!"
"Funny.... Now let's go! You're riding with me."
**Levi's POV**
We galloped at full speed towards the Forest Of Giant Trees.
"Levi,, you seem distracted." Erwin said.
"It's nothing."
"You should be focusing on saving them instead of thinking about (y/n)."
's**t. He saw right through me.'
"Tch..."
"Do you still have feelings for her?" Erwin asked out of the blue.
"No... My marriage is coming. I have no time for her."
"Oh really? Then you don't have feelings for Nel. Am I right? If you do, then you'd have said about you loving Nel so much that (y/n) isn't worth your time."
I remained silent because his words were true.
"Listen,, I know you're lying. If you still love (y/n),, tell her. I'm sure she still loves you. Be with the person that you love. Yes, i do love (y/n) too but she won't be happy being with me. All I want is for her to be happy. For her to smile." With that, he galloped away leaving me behind.
'B-but (y/n) is better off without me..........'
