Ever since Royal left her room, Alexandra found it hard to sleep. She was bored, lonely and - scared. What if he kills her in her sleep? Of course he can do that and no one would question him, not even the authorities.
Alexandra stood by the window, looking at the beautiful night sky. The moon and stars shone brightly, adorning the sky. It reminded her of when she and Amelia were little girls. They would sit by the window, talking and looking at the stars together.
What happened to us? Alexandra wondered. She remembered when Amelia loved her and protected her from bullies. But now, Amelia was the one hurting her.
Alexandra sighed, “It's no use thinking about it now,” She told herself. “It's pointless.” She was still thinking about the past when Royal's car arrived. She gasped and tried to calm down.
After a long time of sitting in the car, Royal got out. He was holding his head and staggering. “What's wrong with him?” Alexandra asked herself. It was clear he was in pain, and there was no one around to help him except her.
Royal kept staggering until he fell down. Alexandra gasped. “This is serious,” she said, and without wasting time, she rushed out of her room to help him.
She rushed down the stairs, her heart racing with worry. She had never seen Royal like this before. He was always so strong and in control.
As she reached the entrance, she saw Royal struggling to get up. She quickly ran to his side and helped him up.
“Royal, what's wrong?” Alexandra asked, looking up at him with concern.
Royal's face was twisted in pain, and he was sweating profusely. “J...jus...t get me to my...my room,” he stammered, his voice shaking with pain. “P...please, Alexandra. I...I need to...to lie down. This migraine is gonna kill me.”
Alexandra's eyes widened in alarm. She had never seen Royal like this before. “We need to get you to the hospital,” she said firmly.
But Royal shook his head. “No, no hospital,” he said. “I just need to rest. I'll be fine by morning.”
Alexandra hesitated, unsure of what to do. But then she remembered she had painkillers. Maybe they could help Royal.
“Come on, Royal,” Alexandra said gently. “Let's get you inside and I'll get you some painkillers.”
Royal nodded weakly, and Alexandra helped him into the house. She settled him onto the couch and rushed to get the painkillers.
As she handed him the pills and a glass of water, Royal looked up at her with gratitude. “Thanks, Alexandra,” he said softly, melting her heart.
Oh, she wished he would always act like this. Alexandra smiled and sat down beside him. “Just rest, Royal,” she said. “I'll take care of you.”
But as Royal closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep, Alexandra couldn't shake off the feeling that something was seriously wrong. He was holding the duvet tightly in his hands and sweating profusely despite the air conditioning.
She knew she shouldn't be here, but she couldn't leave him like this.
“Chiara,” Royal called softly. Alexandra looked at him. “Please don't go,” he muttered in his sleep, sweating really profusely. At this point, Alexandra was getting scared.
She thought of calling someone for help, but she discarded the thought. It was really late and they were all asleep. But weren’t there supposed to be guards watching, where were they? She thought.
“Chiara, please,” Royal said in his sleep, this time tears were streaming down his cheeks. “Don't leave me, Chiara, I need you.”
Alexandra held her breath. She had to wake him up. It was getting out of hand.
“Royal,” she called, shaking him softly. “Royal, wake up.” She screamed, but he wasn't responding.
Alexandra’s heart was racing as she tried to wake Royal up. She shook him harder, but he didn't budge. He was still talking in his sleep, begging his mom not to leave him.
“Royal, please wake up!” Alexandra screamed, her voice echoing through the room. But Royal just kept talking, his words getting more and more desperate.
Suddenly, Royal's body started to convulse, and he let out a loud cry. Alexandra was shocked, she had never seen Royal like this before. She didn't know what to do.
Just as she was about to call for help, Royal’s eyes snapped open. He looked around the room, confused, and then his eyes landed on Alexandra.
For a moment, they just stared at each other, Royal’s chest heaving with exertion. Then, Royal's face crumpled, and he burst into tears.
Alexandra was shocked, she had never seen Royal cry before. She didn't know what to do, so she just sat there, holding him as he sobbed.
As Royal cried, Alexandra couldn't help but think about what had just happened. Who was Chiara? Why was he so scared of losing her? And what had happened to her?
Alexandra had so many questions, but she didn't ask them. Instead, she just held Royal, letting him cry out his pain.
After a while, Royal's tears started to dry up, and he pulled away from Alexandra. He looked up at her, his eyes red and puffy.
“Sorry,” he said, his voice shaking. “I don't know what happened. You don't know what happened. It never happened.”
Alexandra smiled, “What does that even mean?” She asked herself, smiling widely. She he hugged him again. “It's okay,” she said. “You're safe now.”
Royal pushed her away from him, making her stagger. “Look here, lady,” he said, his voice cold and hard. “I don't need your pity or your sympathy. I just need you to leave me alone.”
Alexandra took a step back, surprised by Royal's outburst. He was back to his former self. “Royal, I’m just trying to help,” she said, her voice soft and gentle.
But Royal wasn’t listening. He turned his back on her and walked away, leaving Alexandra standing alone in the room. She watched him go, feeling a mix of emotions: sadness, anger, and confusion.
But she wasn't going to allow her emotions to get in the way. Alexandra took a deep breath and decided to follow Royal. She walked out of the room and down the hallway, searching for Royal.
As she turned a corner, she saw Royal helping himself to a glass of wine. She walked closer to him, “Are you okay?” She asked, sitting on one of the chairs.
“The more you ask me that question, the more pissed off I become,” he sneered.
“How are you doing?” She asked again.
He sneered, his lip curling up in disgust. “What’s it to you?” he spat, his voice venomous. “You think you care about me? You don't even know me.”
Alexandra felt a sting from his words, but she didn't back down. She looked him straight in the eye, her voice firm. “I may not know everything about you, Royal,” she said. “But I do know that you’re hurting. And I want to help.”
Royal snorted, his eyes flashing with anger. “You can’t help me,” he said. “No one can.”
Alexandra took a step closer to him, her heart pounding in her chest. But he shoved her aside and walked away. He hated himself for allowing her to see him like that. Of all the people to be around at that moment, why her?
Only Daniella and Raphael had seen him like that. He hated the look of pity in her eyes, but he couldn't deny a part of him liked it. It reminded him of Chiara. Only she could care for him the way Alexandra had just done.
