Jace turned another light on. The sun was setting, and the Alpha's office was always so dark. Dozens of bookshelves lined the charcoal-painted walls, and this was probably the only room on the Alpha's top floor of the castle without a window. The rest of the mansion interior was decorated with a modern design, but not this room. Theo never understood why Alpha Jace kept this room exactly as his father had. The cigar smoke still lingered in the rugs. Theo knew his best friend hated his father, so it didn't make sense. At least, the large wooden executive desk was incredibly functional, and the brown leather furniture, like the couch Theo was sitting on, was worn in. There was always the added benefit of remembering his own father sitting in this same spot during his days of being Beta.
