*Blair*
~1535~
For the last 18 years, my coven has managed to safely hide the girls from any dangers in the community. In order to prevent any suspicion about the girls and their heritage, the girls have been raised by different witches in my coven. Anahita looked the most similar to me, so I continued to raise her as my daughter and taught her the beauty in her water magic. Mary raised Abeline in the ways of Earth magic. My coven members Agatha, Florence, and Mildred took in Avira, Aella, and Azar respectively. Gwendolyn being the only spirit witch of the coven felt that she would be better as a trainer for the girls to master their gifts instead of a mother to one of them.
Today is the girl's 18th birthday which means that we will celebrate their coming of age within the coven. It is also the day that they will learn the truth of who they are as their powers will reach their strongest, most potent potential. We've told them that it was a miracle they were all born on the same day and it must have been a blessing from one of the Gods or Goddesses.
Although we raised the girls separately from the others, they have grown up as the best of friends with each other. Avira has definitely taken up the role as the head of the 5 of them, which is to be expected since the prophecy always shows the spirit witch front and center with her sisters fighting beside her. The girls even adopted a sweet little cat they named Goldie.
While I was out in the garden getting flowers for the celebration we were going to have later, I heard laughing coming from behind me.
"Mum, what are you doing?" I heard Anahita ask with a smile.
"Just finishing up some gardening and getting the flowers ready for you and the girls."
"Well, we have a surprise for all of you so come to the coven center when you finish."
"Give me a few minutes, my darling."
As Anahita walked away I saw Mary, Agatha, Florence, and Mildred all also being brought to the center by their daughters as well. As I brushed off my dress, I walked over to the coven center to Anahita.
"What's going on girls?" Agatha asked to the girls.
"We want to say thank you for everything you have done for us the last 18 years. We know we weren't the best children growing up, but you guys were all able to help us to grow and be our best selves," Aella stated.
"And to show you that we appreciate everything you guys have done for all of us, we worked with Auntie Gwendolyn on perfecting something for all of you," Avira smiled.
The show started with Abeline growing some flowers and plants from the Earth showing 5 women with extremely pregnant stomachs and Avira starting the story...
"The tale began just over 18 years ago. 5 brave witches, also known as our mums, gave birth to 5 little witches, each of a different element"
Abeline adjusted her creation into 5 women and 5 young children running around.
"As the children grew, so did the chaos of little witches learning to control their magic."
The girls each walked up to the bush representing them and threw around fire, air, vines, and wind. Avira was laughing as Azar and Anahita kept throwing fire and water balls at each other.
"Through grace and patience, our mothers raised 5 beautiful witches to be independent and powerful in our own rights."
The children in the mosaic were changed into adults and a cat made of tulips emerged in the center. Each girl then did a simple spell under their breath that we call essence: a bright shiny ball that color represented their element. I looked as Azar threw her red one up followed by Aella's yellow one, then Abeline's green one, Anahita's blue one, and Avira's purple one. Their essences combined into a silver ball before dissolving into sparkles over the garden Abeline had made. I heard Agatha sob first before I too started to cry with my sisters. The kindness our beautiful girls possessed was unlike any other, I truly believe that it is the kindness the moon goddess gave them when she had their spirits showing through.
As the girls begin to return the world back to its original appearance we hear angry shouts and screams coming from the village.
Monsters!
They are witches!
Get them!
Burn them all!
In a rush to quickly hide the girls from the crowd, Anahita angrily tells us to stop.
"Mum, no. We are of age, we can help!"
"Anahita, if you do not step down now, more people will be hurt."
"Mum, we can help. We are stronger than most of the witches in the coven already. I know we can help."
Without having time to argue with my daughter, the entire town is inside our coven.
"Reverend John, what ever is the matter?" I asked, my annoyance shining through.
"Miss Blair, you and your rapscallion group have been accused of using witchcraft by my son George. Do you care to explain yourself?"
"Witchcraft? Reverend, this is a Holy site. Why, we would never partake in such heinous acts."
A young boy of no more than 10 steps forward, "I saw them, Father! It was those 5 right there!" he states pointing to my daughters.
Anahita begins to step forward to defend herself when I put my arm up to stop her. "Reverend what exactly did your son tell you. There is nothing here to suggest that we would partake in such activities."
"I saw it! There was shrubbery in the shape of people, and colorful, floating... uh things!" the young boy who I am now beginning to associate as young George shouted. "They were using sorcery, Papa!"
"How dare you accuse us of using sorcery! This is ludicrous," Anahita finally joined in.
"Victoria," I glared at her. She hates when we use their middle names but it is for their safety in the town. There would be too many questions if any of the women in the coven used their "unusual" names.
"Well, Miss Blair," began the Reverend, "there seems to be only one way to prove your innocence. We will conduct witch trials on all of you, tonight at sundown."
"Reverend, that is a death sentence to us. The orphanage will become desolate," I try to counter.
"Miss Blair, I suggest you back down now. I believe this whole town will agree that no orphanage is better than the orphanage raising young women to be witches! If you are not lying then you will not mind dying for your cause."
That is when I felt a surge of energy coming from behind me and Gwendolyn casting a mirage spell.
"Blair, I can only hold the spell for so long. Get the girls out of here!" Gwendolyn shouted.
I raced to grab Anahita and watched Mary, Agatha, Mildred, and Florence grab the girls and run for the safety of the woods.
"Mum, what is going on?" Anahita asked.
"I will explain when we are safe," I responded in a harsher tone than I meant.
Once we reached the safe house when had made in the woods long before in case something like this occurred.
"I am sorry you girls are going to find out this way, I thought I might have a few more years to prepare you and keep you safe," I began.
"Mum?" Anahita looked at me questioningly.
"You five are something us in the supernatural world call the Supreme Witches. Five sisters born on Halloween each possessing abilities of the five houses of witchcraft."
"You are so funny, Miss Blair," Avira started. "We are not sisters."
"Except, you are, Avira," Agatha started.
"Wait, I am not your daughter?"
"No, all five of you are my daughters. Well, I at least gave birth to you all," I told them. "You are all daughters of the Earth Goddess and Death God and blessed by the Moon Goddess herself."
"Mum, you lied to me. You lied to all of us," Anahita said tears streaming down her face.
"It was for your protection! I'm so sorry, please let me explain. We do not have much time."
"Fine, but do not think that I have forgiven you."
Before I got the chance to begin explaining, I heard the familiar sounds of shouting and chanting coming at us in from the direction of the town.
Spawns of Satan!
Get the Witches!
They must pay for their crimes!
"We are out of time. Hurry and tell them," Mildred urged me.
"It started almost 20 years ago when I saved a young girl named Pandia..."
