Aria's POV Beep—Beep— A honk sounded from behind—someone waiting to pass. I let out a sigh, breaking the stalemate. "Let's go. I don't want to keep my brother waiting." Without waiting for Damon to respond, I stepped out of his arms and walked toward the Maybach. I didn't look back. The car door opened for me. I slid into the back seat, the leather cold against my skin, and stared straight ahead. A moment later, Damon got in beside me. The door closed. The engine hummed to life. Neither of us spoke. **** No one really tasted the food at lunch. Joshua had gone all out: the good china, fresh flowers at the center of the table, a spread that was trying way too hard. Noah and he were talking shop about the new hospital wing, swapping old stories and laughing... It should've felt warm.
