Aria's POV
The conversation ended. Or perhaps it simply reached the point where neither of us had anything left to say. Too many truths had been unearthed in one night. Too many wounds had been reopened.
I walked toward the door without looking back. Behind me, Damon remained standing in silence. Just as my fingers touched the doorknob, his voice stopped me.
"I'm not leaving, Aria. I am staying with you."
I slowly faced him. "What?"
"The Werewolf Council will summon you. They'll summon me too." He took another step forward. "We'll face the investigation together."
I studied him carefully. His expression never wavered.
Lydia watched him cautiously. Do we trust him?
No.
Then why are you contemplating agreeing?
