Damon's POV She suddenly sneezed, like a little cat. She finally looked up at me. That glance was so brief it felt like an illusion. Then she looked away indifferently. She checked her phone and turned to leave, as if we were just two annoying obstacles in her way. Don't let her go! Rhein barked. "I know." I finally spoke. My voice was hoarse, not like my own. I was answering her explanation. I wanted her to know I believed her. Her steps seemed to pause for a tiny, almost unnoticeable moment, but that was all. She didn't look back. She walked resolutely into the wind and snow and disappeared around the corner. I stared in the direction she had vanished. "Damon, are you… angry?" Claudia's voice pulled me back. I let go of her waist. My tone was so indifferent it surprised even me.
