Chapter 62

776 Words

Aria's POV I was scrolling through the company work group on my phone when the door to my hospital room suddenly burst open. I looked up quickly. Astrid stood in the doorway, breathing hard. "Astrid..." She didn't say a word. She stormed straight over, grabbed my arm, and yanked up my sleeve without asking. The spot where they'd drawn blood was covered in a huge, ugly bruise—all purple and blue. Astrid's fingers tightened on my sleeve. Her face went stone cold in an instant. She turned around like she was about to march right back out. I knew that look. Astrid was pissed, and I knew exactly who she was going after. "Astrid, listen to me. I did this on my own," I said quickly, grabbing her wrist before she could leave. Just to make sure she believed me, I added, "Really, I swear."
