CHAPTER 222978 Olinda A dark mountain rose up in the water ahead, illuminated by the swarms of ocean life that swam in the waters around the peak. Dark clouds spewed from vents in the sides of the peaks. It looked like an undersea volcano, but I trusted Subha that bringing us here was safe. “What is that?” Tabitha asked. “A volcano, one of dozens along this rift,” Subha said. “The peak provides space for the reef to grow, and the vents create a rich environment for the organisms that live on it.” “Until it erupts,” I said. “Oh, it’s always erupting,” Subha said. “The vents continually release the pressure inside.
