Manny, Janie and Robert Martin

Manny, whose full name was Ralph Manuel Hendershot, was a very callow young man of eighteen years who married his childhood sweetheart. He had loved her since she was but a child, and she felt the same about him. She was named Jane Mary Hart prior to marriage. Her parents came to Yuma to try and open a mercantile store. Janie's father, Monroe, went to work in the mercantile store owned by Flora Hendershot because of her inheritance from George A. Bonhomme.
Before the Hendershots left Yuma and moved into El Norte de Sonora she sold the mercantile store to Monroe for a very small price. She gave it to him for a song in recognition of his prior work there. His efforts to make the General Store successful thereafter brought him great happiness.
