As I woke I was filled with hope and surprise that I would live another day, this hope was soon shattered as I felt the cold of chains digging into my skin and laying against me. The chains were thick and bound to the wall which was made of rough and cold stone, my wrists sore from the thick metal digging into me. My heart almost stopped when the large wooden door creaked open revealing a tall handsome man with messy black hair. But when I met his eyes I tried desperately to remove the chains pushing against letting myself fall back into the grasping hands of unconsciousness, his eyes were blood red and seemed to be endlessly deep. It was him though he was the one chasing me then the realisation hit me like a brick wall there was no escape. He blocked the only way in or out, I let my hands fall back to my sides exhausted by my own movements and I accepted once again I was going to die. My breaths slowed and my mind raced, as I braced for the attack my eyes clamped shut. Instead the man laughed this time it wasnt demonice or cruel this was different, though I was unable to place the emotion that sparked this reaction. Slowly I reopened my eyes to see the man walking towards me, I scrambled back as far as I could back pressed to the wall. He crouched down in front of me, with a look of curiosity,
“Get away from me!” I growled the words, forcing them out, making my throat burn and my head ache. He smiled just as his laugh had been. I couldn't place the emotion behind it. He reached out and tucked hair behind my ear,
“Fascinating,” He whispered to himself, then at a more normal level said “Sorry about the-” He gestured to the chains that enclosed my ankles and wrists.
“Are you deaf? Get away!” I yelled at him, he didn’t move but he took on a look of surprise,
“No need to yell,” He spoke as if it was any other day and we were just having a normal conversation “I no-longer intend to hurt you,” Though I could tell he meant to make me feel better, it only made me even more scared. He tilted his head, the look of curiosity returning.
“If you're not going to leave, at least back the hell up,” I growled. Instead of listening he sat down, eyes fixed on me. He waited a moment before asking,
“Why do you want me to leave?” It sounded as if he really wanted to know. He reached out to touch me again,
“Don’t!” He pulled his hand back in,
“Why?” he asked again, I glared at him, but didn’t answer, “I’m not leaving till you answer me,” He said very matter of factly. Still I stayed silent.
“Fine,” He said, seeming to be happy with my defiance. He moved on to his hands and knees and crawled into the space next to me and sat down once again. I dare not move, still scared that he would indeed hurt me. Still he looked at me with complete curiosity and I stared back filled with paralysing fear. While my stare was blank and had no other reason than to make sure he stayed were he was and didn’t try anything, he was studying me taking in each aspect, with each second passing his smile grew,
“Stop it,” I told him, he tilted his head,
“Stop what?” I didn’t answer as he clearly knew what it was I was talking about. After another moment of silence he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small key, he lent over and took my right hand in his and unlocked the chains with the key. The chains fell to the floor with a metallic clank, he then did the same with my left hand, before pocketing the key leaving on the chains that enclosed my ankles. He looked up, staring into my eyes, smiling again. This time it felt different, small, sweet and genuine holding that mysterious emotion that continued to evade me. Still holding his gaze I began to absently rub my aching wrists.
