chapter 18: Run away

Lieya tried to touch me but I pulled away. James pulled me closer into him, as more tears streamed my face. “Shhhh, it's okay, shh,” James whispered to me. I moved away from him, wiping my face and steadying my breathing. Both Lieya and James were watching me carefully, as if they were waiting for me to fall apart further. i couldn’t do that though, I needed to keep it together, my distress was hurting James and I wouldn’t do that to him. I took a deep breath, picked up my blood stained clothes and ditched them into the bin by my desk. I then pulled the bag from the bin, tied it up and brought it out to the red bin. I walked back inside, and into my bedroom. James and Lieya were still sat on the floor waiting for me “Can you give me a moment please?” I asked, trying to keep my voice levelled. They both nodded and left the room. The second my door closed I grabbed my stash of money from under a photo frame, a small bag I had previously packed as a just in case (Filled with clothes, travel toiletries and a pair of shoes.) then moved over to the windows, slipped outside and ran. Without needing to try I was able to move at vamp speed, the further I got the more the bond between me and James pulled for me to return into his arms. After thirty minutes or so my phone began to ring. Lieya was calling. I turned off my phone and continued to run. It didn’t take much longer for me to reach my destination. The small cottage, that I'd been left by my late uncle, came into view. Vines climbed the rough stone wall, wild flowers encircling the small circular opening in the forest. I opened the front door, and was met with the familiar decoration of the place. The majority of the furniture was made of oak, coloured glass hung across the small windows painting the cottage in pastels. I smiled, as I continued further in, it only had three rooms, one bedroom, a bathroom and main room with a kitchenette, dining table and couch. Sighing I dropped my bag down on the couch and moved to the bedroom. I collapsed onto the bed, and almost immediately fell asleep. When I woke, I turned on my phone to find thirty-two missed calls and several texts. As I was going to listen to the voicemail my phone began to ring. Unknown number. “Hello?” I said, answering the call. “She picked up!” I heard Maria shout. There was shuffling on the other end before James' voice flowed out of the speaker. “Where the hell are you?” He sounded both angry and worried. Hearing his voice made my entire body ache with the need to be with him, like my own blood would rather run through his vain than my own. “Why did you run? Are you hurt?” He asked not leaving time for me to answer. “I’m fine,” I managed to get out. James let out an audible sigh. “Please come back,” Tears threatened my eyes, hearing the raw emotion in his voice. “Please” He repeated. My heart felt like it was being ripped in two within my chest. “I will, I just need a day or two,” I whispered, unable to make my voice any louder.
