I yanked one of my arrows out of a fallen vampire corpse, nocked it as I whirled around, and loosed it directly into the heart of another vampire less than five feet from me. "I need to get to higher ground!" I shouted, stepping behind Amanda as she swung her scythe. It had taken only two minutes from Amanda's first kill to get into the thick of the fallen vampire territory, and we'd been forced to abandon the vehicle soon after, once it was set on fire by one of the fallen.
