Samantha became a Pilot Surgeon

Samantha ignored her own needs for food and sleep to study so that she could one day give James the degree she had worked so hard to achieve.

The months added up to two years over that time period. Samantha received the College's top academic honor, the Flight Surgeon Degree, and a monetary incentive.

She had been looking forward to this moment for so long that she simply couldn't contain her emotions. She intended to give James a bear hug and hand him the Certificate that would make her a valuable asset to her father's airline as soon as she got back.

Before going home, Samantha used the money she made at college to buy a bracelet for James. She went out and happily and confidently bought James a new pair of clothes and shoes. She can't wait to thank James in person for everything he's done for her development into the person she is now.

The bell rang, signaling the start of the fifth hour.

Samantha arrived in her hometown just as the weather had turned for the worse, creating an anxious atmosphere due to the rain and lightning. The intensity of her happiness and excitement was palpable.

Samantha wanted to give James a big hug when she saw him at the airport, but she refrained once she noticed that James was accompanied by a driver.

James, tears in his eyes, begged Samantha to get in the cab with him as he left her luggage there.

When she went to give away the souvenirs from her trip abroad, she discovered that one of the bags wasn't there. There was no gift bag, and she checked everything.

She turned to flee inside when she heard Oliver's voice behind her.

"Is it your purse or mine? When I looked down, the bag was on the floor, "explained Oliver, giving Samantha the bag he had just packed.

"I appreciate it when people like you help out. I will never forget how much you helped me." As she spoke, Samantha snatched Oliver's luggage away.

"Oliver! Wow, that was unexpected! Please tell me there's a good reason that an airline CEO would be in attendance." A business customer volunteered to take him, and he complied.

Samantha was surprised to learn that her biological father was the person he had longed to meet.

She made an effort to approach him, but he had already departed in the car that had arrived to take him away.

James came up to a crying Samantha and gave her a hug and a shake. He had no idea who it was and was perplexed when she explained what had transpired.

Samantha looked at James and continued, "He is my Dad who gave birth to me.

James ushered Samantha into the cab and instructed the driver to keep pace with the moving car.

For four hours, they drove all around town looking for the missing car, but they never did.

The car's tire burst as they approached home, so James paid the tow truck driver by asking Samantha to walk with him to the house.

"The day you handed over the money is one I will never forget. As soon as you handed over the cash, I was presented with the pilot Surgeon diploma. What was your source for such a massive sum of money?" Samantha's query was full of appreciation.

"I asked some of my pals to lower the total for you, Samantha. Ignore that." James said and started to go, but he turned around as Samantha demanded the truth.

James deliberated for some time but ultimately did not respond. He invited Samantha to attend so that she could finally put her fears to rest and enjoy her newfound prosperity.

It was after eleven o'clock when the clock chimed.

Samantha could not fathom how James had gotten so much in one night and then quietly returned to his room. She started looking through the documents to see if he had taken out a loan for such a huge sum, and while doing so, she came across a folder holding his medical bills and post-op reports.

She ripped one open and saw James's medical records, which surprised her. Reading them, she realized that James had given up one of his kidneys in exchange for the cash, leaving him with only one.

She was shocked to learn that James donated his kidney to make her earn Surgeon's degree and sobbed as she retreated to her room.

She didn't know how to express her gratitude to James because he was doing so much for a daughter who wasn't biologically his, but she knew no one could love her as much as James did. For the first time, she even despised her father for abandoning her and for upsetting James' peaceful existence.
