Why did I leave without a word?
I don’t really know how to answer this question.
Under his gaze, guilt gnaws at my heart, but in the end, my rational side gets the final say. I take a deep breath, and confront his accusing look. "Let's be real. You're not mad because I left without a word. You're mad because you couldn't stop me. It's okay to admit failure sometimes, Edward."
"Are you proud of your little stunt, Elizabeth?" Edward says coldly. "It only worked because you took advantage of my undying love for you. You tricked me."
"Oh, don't heap all the blame on me, Your Highness," I argue. "It worked because I know you too well. You can't control your possessiveness."
