Edward’s POV It takes a moment for me to find my voice. I let out a skeptical laugh. “That’s a good one. You really got me.” “No,” Elizabeth says, her eyes widening as she shakes her head. “I’m not joking. It really is from Maggie.” She pauses, then explains, “Uh, that’s the name Margaret goes by now.” “You do realize my mom was the late queen, don’t you?” I ask. She nods, so I continue, “Then tell me, how is it possible that you have a letter from a woman who’s supposed to have killed herself?” I challenge, feigning ignorance about the possibility that my mom might still be alive. “That’s a long story,” Elizabeth replies, clearly anxious. “I know it sounds unbelievable, but your mom didn’t kill herself. She was drugged, thrown into the wild, and saved by a pack of rogues. She’s alive
