I couldn’t explain the sleepless nights since my last encounter with her. She doesn’t even know me, yet she had the power to see beyond my well-put-together visage. This made me more interested in knowing her. Jenna has the most beautiful smile which made me feel so relaxed forgetting all the drama and baggage from my past. I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did a few days back.
I quickly grabbed the books I offered to lend her, put them in a bag, and went to the floor where her room was located. I’m not sure why my heart was racing like a bloody teenage boy, but I needed to make a peace offering, so I knocked on her door.
She was shocked to see me and the tension between us was too awkward, so I spoke first, grateful that she didn’t shut the door at the sight of me.
“I’m sorry for acting the way I did the last time. You uhmm..” I stammered as my brain suddenly went blank. Why the hell did I stammer? I choose to blame the breathtaking sight of her
“I hit a nerve. I’m also sorry.” Her sincere apology made me feel like an ass.
“Yeah, you did, it doesn’t excuse my bad behavior. So, to make it up to you, I brought those books I offered earlier.” She took them happily and I suddenly felt much better sighing silently.
“Would you like to come in and join me for wine and popcorn?” She offered and I gladly took it. “Thanks for the books, it’s very kind of you. I’ll get you a glass.”
I tried and failed to take my eyes off her as she walked away. Her straight legs were just perfect. Even beneath her big sweatshirt, I could make out her well-defined curves, she had the perfect body for an average-height lady. Her steps interrupted my thoughts. She led me to the small dining area and I noticed she was a bit uneasy even though she tried to hide it.
“This feels wrong. We should be having fun outside and not indoors eating popcorn and drinking wine.” I finally said in an attempt to ease the tension.
She giggled, giving me a look. “You’re right. I had to resort to this when my tour guide bailed on me.”
We both laughed and our gaze met. “I meant what I said, Jenna. I just feel the need to ensure you leave here a happier person.” I sighed as she looked away.
“Why do you care Lucas?”
“I don’t know for sure. But I know I feel drawn to you. Maybe it’s your pretty face or something.”
She giggled and poured us another glass. We talked about random things and I discovered interesting sides to her.
The night ended even though I didn’t want it to, but it was almost midnight. She walked me to the door and smiled shyly. “Good night Lucas, thanks again for the books.”
“Good night Jenna, I had a lovely evening. See you tomorrow.” Then I strolled out trying to curtail my excitement. I am not sure if it was as a result of an evening well spent or the fact that she agreed to have dinner with me tomorrow night.

JENNA'S POV
Dinner with Lucas was great, and I mean ‘all’ the dinners we’ve had since I agreed to the very first one. He insisted we keep having dinner together every evening as he would love to hear all about my progress report with my writing and daytime activities. I can’t deny that I enjoy his company. Spending time here and with him has really helped me feel much better.
For a change, I suggested we do something fun, while he said something wild would be better, and for some reason, I agreed. It’s my last weekend here and according to him, Fridays are the best days to visit the club.
As usual, he came to pick me up but this time a fancy car was parked outside.
“I thought we were walking to the club?” I asked surprised.
“Nope, and that’s because, tonight I’m taking you somewhere outside the resort. Get ready to have a wild first club experience.” He said in an excited tone and I hesitated to get into the car.
“Should I be scared, I don’t do wild Lucas.”
“Do you trust me, Jenna?” I could tell my response would make or break this moment.
“Yes Lucas, I trust you even though I find it weird that I do.” Then he grinned, revealing his perfect set of teeth, and tucked some hair strands behind my ears gently.
“Good, then you have nothing to worry about.” He leaned closer and whispered, “You’re safe with me.”
The feel of his beard against my cheeks and the smell of his expensive perfume was so seductive. He threw me the key and allowed me to drive his expensive car. I doubt if I have ever been this excited my entire life. Lucas’ charms were working without him even knowing.
The club was filled with different important personalities, including celebrities. A large number of them seemed to know him, I noticed he even tried to avoid some till we managed to get to the VVIPs part of the club which was less noisy. I wondered how often he came here and what he did while he was here. He seems to know a lot about me while I know almost nothing.
“This is crazy Lucas. We’ve spent the past few weeks together and I know nothing about you meanwhile I have told you practically everything about me.”
“Except your ex.” He teased and popped our bottle of drink open.
“Come on Lucas. I would rather not talk about him for the sake of my mental health. Tell me about yourself.” It was almost like a demand.
“Well, there’s nothing much. I’m just some guy trying to heal from my past.” He paused and took a sip of his drink. “I’m going to need some shots to talk about how I was ‘almost’ married.” He signalled and a bottle of tequila was placed in front of us.
