Chapter 2
After I fed half a mug of ice-cold beer to my empty stomach, my jumpiness ebbed almost immediately, and a mellow buzz invaded my body. For the most part, Gray’s face remained wreathed in that knee-shaking, heart-pounding, bold smile, but I started to grow accustomed to it. The shiny white teeth and adorable dimples, the appealing features and sparkling eyes, the whole six-foot-two package of exquisite masculinity still turned me on, no question about that, but soon I could meet his gaze and not feel so exposed, so naked, or so damned vulnerable.
Although Gray’s light banter regarding the menu, the bar, and the town in general filled the silences between us, I began to hold my own, and eventually directed questions toward him. I so desperately needed to learn everything I could
