Chapter Five: Descendant

1033 Words
Adebisi stood atop the highest peak in her vast empire, her crimson eyes surveying the lands she had claimed. Africa lay in ruin beneath her iron rule, its people either dead, enslaved, or too terrified to resist. Her army of the dead—thousands of mindless, unrelenting warriors—was undefeatable. She had crossed seas to begin her conquest of the rest of the world, her sights set on Europe. The moment she stepped onto Spanish soil, however, she was met with resistance unlike anything she had faced before. A force stood in her way—not soldiers, not armies, but her six children. Adebisi’s lips curled into a faint smile as she saw them. They had grown strong, their powers a testament to her own. Yet, despite their strength, she saw them for what they were: obstacles to be crushed. “You should not have come,” she said, her voice as cold as the winds that swept across the battlefield. Her youngest, Ademide, stepped forward, his golden eyes blazing. “We came to end your tyranny, Mother. You have destroyed enough.” The other five flanked him, each embodying their element: Adelase, master of fire, flames licking at his hands; Ademoriyo, the solid and unyielding master of earth; Adeniyi, fluid and graceful as water itself; Adelola, commanding the winds with every breath; and Adeyemi, the radiant master of light. Adebisi laughed, a harsh sound that echoed across the battlefield. “You think you can stop me? I gave you life, and I can take it away just as easily.” Without another word, the battle began. The skies darkened as Adebisi summoned a storm of fire and lightning. Adelola countered with a powerful gust of wind, dissipating the flames before they could reach her siblings. Adeyemi created a shield of light to block the lightning, his energy clashing with his mother’s. Ademide rushed forward, his Eyes of Death flaring as he locked gazes with Adebisi. For a moment, the world seemed to pause. He tried to overpower her with the same command she had used so often: “Kú.” But Adebisi merely smirked. “You forget, child. I am death itself. You cannot kill what cannot die.” She unleashed a wave of power that sent Ademide flying backward, his body crashing into the ground with a sickening thud. The others rallied to his side, their combined powers creating a barrier to protect him as he struggled to his feet. The battle raged for hours, each side unleashing devastating attacks. Adebisi’s mastery of the elements and the Eyes of Death made her nearly unstoppable, but her children’s unity and resolve kept them in the fight. Adelase launched a barrage of fireballs, forcing Adebisi to summon walls of water to extinguish them. Ademoriyo manipulated the earth beneath her feet, attempting to trap her in a stone prison, but she shattered it with a single stomp. As the hours passed, the tide of battle began to turn. Adebisi’s children, though weaker individually, worked together to exploit her few vulnerabilities. They forced her to expend energy at a rapid pace, their teamwork creating openings she struggled to close. But Adebisi was far from defeated. She unleashed a final, desperate attack—a shockwave of raw energy that sent her children sprawling. Standing amidst the destruction, she laughed, triumphant. “You cannot win,” she said, her voice echoing with otherworldly power. “I am eternal!” Despite their injuries, the siblings refused to give up. Ademide, battered but unbroken, knew what had to be done. He had spent years preparing for this moment, training under the chief priest of Ogun to learn the one method that could end his mother’s reign. As his siblings held Adebisi’s attention, Ademide retrieved a small, unassuming doll from his satchel. It was a vessel, a representation of life itself, imbued with ancient magic. According to Azarailus, the Eyes of Death were bound to Adebisi’s soul, and the only way to defeat her was to transfer that soul into the doll. “Ademide!” Adeyemi shouted, his voice strained. “Now!” Ademide didn’t hesitate. He began chanting the incantation, his voice steady despite the chaos around him. Adebisi’s attention snapped to him, her eyes narrowing as she realized what he was doing. “You dare?” she hissed, teleporting across the battlefield to stop him. But her children intervened, throwing themselves in her path. Adelase unleashed a wall of fire, Ademoriyo raised an impenetrable barrier of stone, and Adeniyi created a torrent of water to hold her back. For the first time, Adebisi faltered. Ademide completed the incantation and hurled the doll with all his strength. It struck Adebisi in the chest, and the world seemed to freeze. A deafening silence fell over the battlefield as Adebisi’s body crumpled to the ground. Her crimson eyes dimmed, and the aura of death that had surrounded her dissipated. The doll glowed faintly, its surface warm to the touch. Adebisi’s soul was bound within it, her reign of terror finally ended. The siblings stood together, battered but victorious. They had saved the world, but at a great cost. The scars of their battle would remain with them forever. In the days that followed, the world’s leaders convened to decide what to do with Adebisi’s children. Fearful of their power, they agreed to separate them, each taking responsibility for one sibling. Ademide became the guardian of Africa, his mother’s former domain. Adeyemi was sent to South America, Adelola to Asia, Adeniyi to Australia, Ademoriyo to Europe, and Adelase to North America. They vowed to use their powers for good, each guarding their respective continents from the shadows. As they parted ways, Ademide stood before the doll that contained his mother’s soul. He felt no triumph, only sorrow. “Goodbye, Mother,” he whispered, placing the doll in a sacred chamber where it would remain hidden for all time or so they all thought. The legacy of Adebisi, the queen who became a monster, was over. But the story of her children, the guardians of the world, was only beginning. I am one of them, well, not them but also a DESCENDANT…………………
