Kay _____ The rest of the day went smoothly, despite the awkward check-in I had with Mr. Andrews. He wasn’t very forthcoming about the state of the company. I didn’t need him to be though, Jess had already filled me in. It felt like a sinking ship and considering our personal differences, I needed to find another job as a matter of urgency. I was ready for my old quiet life; I needed to protect my peace. Lunch was a snack at my desk while I battled to catch up with my work; a month was a long time to be away. At the same time, it felt good to be busy and not left to stew in my thoughts. A productive day always lifted my spirits, giving me a sense of accomplishment.
