Cursing, she jumped out of the bed, looking towards Chris who was already awake. "Why didn't you wake me up?" she asked, annoyed. He slowly shrugged, then smiled at her. "You seemed to be dreaming something nice. And, well, I thought I might as well drive you today. You're not really fit to be operating any vehicle." he teased, and she gave him a one finger salute before walking directly into the door frame to the master bathroom, wincing slightly and whispering "ow..." before walking into the bathroom, and soon after he heard the bath water running.
Still cursing ever so slightly, she quickly got herself wet, lathered up and rinsed off the soap. After having had a quick shower, she reached out to find the towel rack... Empty.
Cursing herself, she realized that she'd taken the last one to clean up last night. "Chris?" she half-yelled, and did so again when he didn't respond. Finally, he stood in the doorway, his hair completely tousled. "Can I get a towel?" she asked, and he nodded quickly, returning after a short disappearance, towel in hand.
She grabbed it, and quickly started drying herself off. When he didn't leave, she looked up at him, while continuing to dry herself off. "What?" she barked, and he just shrugged. "Can I get you anything? " She shook her head no, and he nodded and disappeared again.
When she got out of the shower, now almost completely dry, she quickly grabbed yesterday's clothes. She took a sniff test, then decided it was fine, quickly putting on fresh panties and socks but otherwise keeping the stale outfit, nipping into the bathroom to put down a pad.
He sent her a short smile as he put on a pullover and some jeans. "I really don't mind driving you. Besides, I'm already dressed. Please, let me drive you today." She paused, then finally nodded while rolling her eyes. "Alright, fine, I give. You can drive me." she said while holding up her hands defensively. He smiled. "Alright. If we go now, we can hit the drive-through coffee place on the way?"
Kate quickly lightened up a bit in the face, smiling, and a few minutes after they were in the car, her with the backpack on her lap. They both got a large iced "coffee" drink, with whipped cream and a nice sugar taste. It really perked her up, especially with the donut on the side. They chatted away as they pulled up to the school's parking lot.
He got reminded of yesterday when he saw the parking attendant, but he hid his grimace by taking a sip of his straw. He thought about saying something, but instead just sent her a smile as they drove around for a bit, finally finding a spot. "Want me to walk you in?" he asked as she looked at her, and she smiled slightly. "I mean... You can come in if you'd like, but you gotta leave soon as you’ve walked me to my class." She presented the condition with a smile, he nodded, and with that, they both got out.
They walked into the school, Chis following Kate, who knew the layout better, and, most importantly, knew which classroom she was going to.
On the way there they were stopped by a woman with the tightest bun Chris had ever seen. Everything about her screamed drill sergeant to him; disciplined hairline, immaculate clothing, a thin line for a mouth. "Miss Greenwood, I'll need to see you in my office." She sent a harsh glance towards each of them, before turning on her heel and click-clacking away.
Chris made a slow whistling sound, imitating the sound of a grenade being thrown. "Who was that?" he asked, lifting the drink to his lip to take another sip of the straw before finally turning to look at Kate, finding her white as a sheet. "Uh... You okay, babe?" he asked, turning his full front to her. "That was... She's the one who expels people." she whispered, and Chris felt his assumption validated; a totally sadistic drill sergeant.
He nodded slowly, thoughtfully swishing another sip around in his mouth. "Well, no use keeping her waiting, right?" he smiled as he took her hand. She slowly nodded, but seemed fairly f*****g shook. He leaned down, and brushed his lips against her hand. "Come on, Kate. I'll go with you, hmm?" She closed her eyes, and took a long breath in... and out. Finally, she smiled and looked at her warrior, interlacing their fingers as she guided him towards the woman's office.
The office was on the complete other end of the school, and Chris had to almost pull her to kick her into another gear. However much Kate fought against him, they were soon standing in front of the door.
She took another breath in as she closed her eyes and knocked on the door, finally relaxed when the woman opened the door. "Come on in, miss Greenwood." she said, her lips still a thin line. Chris took another step forward, and the woman almost hissed at him: "Just miss Greenwood."
Chris had had enough, sending her a short smile: "If you let me, miss Greenwoods´ legal counsel, know what the meeting is about, then I'll stay out here. However, you're in no position to deny me to follow a client into one of the things I'm here to do." The woman almost recoiled, but stepped aside and let him in, though she clearly wasn't happy about it.
Chris walked in, and squeezed Kates hand. "Miss Greenwood, one of our janitorial staff found you in an, ahem, compromised position yesterday. This school, of course, cannot allow that to happen, especially not on our premises."
Chris shot a quick look towards Kate, before returning his gaze towards the woman. "So, what does this mean for Kate? Are you saying you want to kick her out of the school? Or are you just holding her up from going to class?"
The woman curled her lips, then finally looked down at her desk. "Next strike, you'll get tossed out. But for now.." she whispered, and Chris nodded. "Sounds good. Well, we'll see you around." He lightly touched Kate's shoulder, who nodded and got up, almost in a trance.
As soon as they were out of sight of the office, she embraced him and cried into his shoulder for a few minutes. He just kissed the top of her head and rubbed her back, until she'd calmed down. "Better get to class." she whispered, then looked up at him. He bit his lip, then kissed her forehead. "Alright. I love you." She kissed him on the lips. "I love you too. Thanks for sticking up for me." She wiped the tears from her face, before nodding a few times. She was still crying a bit as she walked towards the auditorium again, but hopefully she didn't get interrupted again
