Chapter 3: Encounter

1080 Words
Noah *** I returned home after I finished exercising in the gym. I didn't bother attending the other sessions we were supposed to have since it was all just greetings and meaningless conversations. Instead of going to the dormitory, I decided to sleep at the pack house to say a few words to my dad about what I know about Orion. Me, father and mother are sitting in the dining room patiently, waiting for Cadence to arrive since she was late. "What did you find?" Dad cut to the chase and didn't even bother saying some pleasantries. I saw mom became stiff and she looked at dad, narrowing her eyes at him. Dad looked at her and I knew that they were talking through their mind link. "Sorry son, how was your day? Why isn't Cadence with you?" He asked me again, this time his voice was less intense than it was seconds ago. I'm sure mom scolded him since he was side-eyeing her to see if there were any changes in her expression. But mom remained frowning so I took her hand and rubbed it to soothe her a bit. She eventually released a load of breath.. I let her hand go when she finally calmed down and turned my head back to dad. "It was fine, Cadence had an emergency up in her club so I drove here first." I answered him and he just nodded at me, taking in my response. Dad has always been strict, even before he took over the whole pack. My mother was the reason why he loosened up a bit, though he was still dominating in all points, and the pressure he gave out could make one easily fall to their knees. Same with my mother who was a full blooded Hayes, the mighty clan who savagely defeated the supreme witches who tried to cause trouble. Mom's looks alone can make one quiver to no end. My friend Brett, unfortunately also experienced her dagger look when he broke her favorite mirror. He cried and cried saying that mom was a demon. It was both hilarious and chilling. Our family possesses the royal bloodline, our ancestors were the ones who reigned the entirety of werewolves even before the advancement of time. Which is why we were highly feared by our foes. However, lately, the news of some of our warriors being killed in the outskirts of our territory triggered all of us. The seer in our pack already saw the impending war between our pack and some group of vampires. Except, we still don't know if the Heliah clan have something to do with it. They were the royals in the vampire world, and only someone like them will ever dare to cross paths with us. Measly vampires would have already run away if they knew the territory they have entered is ours. So that's why the Heliah's were our number one suspect of these killings. The elders have already executed an extensive amount of search, but there was still no report back from our informants. "So the new kid, is he a threat?" Dad questioned with all seriousness. "No, I didn't smell any vampire scent on him. He's human." I answered. "Is that so?" Mom raised her brows at me as if trying to tell me something. "What?" "Based on the information I collected. He has no family or friends here. As to why he picked this place to study is unknown to us. His origin is also a mystery, how can you be sure that he hasn't masked his scent to hide from our senses?" I was taken aback by what she said. Why didn't I think of that? "It seems to me that your judgement has been clouded. Your mate, I keep hearing that she is causing trouble, restrain her Noah or else I will be the one to discipline her. As to why you both were fated to match is really confusing, a natural leader, and an ordinary w***e from a different pack. Truly a loss for us." I gritted my teeth hearing what she said, although I know that Jessica has a strange nature, still, she was my mate and that is etched forever. "Quit throwing me that look. If you agree to break the bond I could do it with just one flick of my fingers. Your stubbornness will lead you to no glory, your mate is trash and so will this pack be if she ever becomes luna." She uttered with a venomous tone. I abruptly stood up not wanting to hear anything coming out of her any longer and hurriedly walked out. "Way to go love..." I heard dad murmuring in a sarcastic tone. I went upstairs to my room with heavy steps, took a quick shower and flopped to my bed. I placed my hand in the back of my head and stared cluelessly at the ceiling. They were right, I can't deny that fact, Jessica will never be a good luna. But I can't break the bond no matter what, it would hurt her and may even kill her. I just can't do it. I let out a deep growl and closed my eyes to sleep. - After what felt like hours, out of nowhere, I suddenly saw an image in the darkness. "Who's there?" I shouted but there was no sound coming out. The figure slowly became clear and it revealed a chestnut curly hair, paired with hazel green fleeked pupils. His face was hazy and he was standing a few feet away from me. He was opening and closing his mouth but I couldn't hear anything he was saying. I tried to move forward but I was locked up in place, totally immobile. "Orion... Is that you?" I tried to talk to him but like before, my voice was muffled. He didn't react, but slowly stepped to where I was. He raised his pale white hands, and caressed my cheek tenderly that it made me close my eyes by how soft it felt. "Noah..." That was the only thing I was able to make up with what he said as he leaned his face to mine and placed a gentle kiss on my hair. I jolted awake, sweat covering my entire body. I looked left and right but there was no sign of anyone. "What the hell was that?! Why was he in my dreams?" I must be going crazy.
