Savannah's POV
I can hear giggling so I say out loud “It’s ok mum you can come out now, I think he’s gone.” I turn to her room as her door opens fully. She looks embarrassed to have been caught, but I knew she was there from the second I asked Enzo what was wrong.
She thinks she is stealth, but I am the best there is, she should know that my now, but it appears otherwise. She steps out of her room with the biggest smile on her face as she says, “That boy always has been the sweetest, it’s good to see his training hasn’t changed him too much.” I roll my eyes and turn away, I don’t get all mushy and my mother knows this, so I don’t even respond to her.
Instead, I head to my room I really do need to rest, I didn’t notice how hard I have been pushing myself lately and now my mother knows about my date, tomorrow will be a long day. I hear her footsteps and know she is following me, as I turn to shut my door, she pushes me out of the way walking over a sitting on my bed.
I leave my door open before turning to her and saying, “Tomorrow is going to be long enough, you can get everything out then for now I don’t know go have s*x or something.” I realize what I just said when I looked at me mothers face, so I quickly added “Eww, no don’t do that. Go and cook or something, I just need you to leave right now.” I quickly avert my eyes from my mother as she stands and leaves laughing
As she gets outside, she shouts “Oh, Rocco baby.” I shiver and quickly slam my door on her, I can hear my mother burst out laughing behind the closed door I then hear my father shout back “YES MY SEXY QUEEN.” It makes me shiver in disgust at my own comment. I shower and climb into bed dreading what my mother now has planned for tomorrow, I really should have spoken to her a little tonight, but I can’t think about that now I need sleep.
Savannah’s POV
As expected, my mother woke me up ridiculously early knowing I would want at least two hours in the gym before we left. When I got there the bag I had destroyed yesterday had already been replaced and the sand cleared up, so I got on with my workout forgoing any of the punch bags for today.
When I go to get breakfast my mother rushes me through it and orders me upstairs to shower and change, not five minutes after going up stairs she is at my door telling me to hurry up.
I wouldn’t mind but the shops don’t f*****g open for another hour and a half, the drive there is only half an hour, so I don’t get the f*****g need to rush. Thank God the coffee shop is open this early because I got two spoonful’s of my breakfast before it was snatched away, so with an hour to spare we grab a coffee and something to eat.
As soon as we sat down, I could see my mother at bursting point, I sighed and said, “Go on, say what you have to say.” I’m surprised by her reply as she says, “I have nothing to say, I’m just so excited and happy for you baby.” I smile at her.
I know it doesn’t reach my eyes “I am happy mum; I have always loved Enzo.” I finish saying with a sigh, my mother eyes me before asking “But?” I met her eyes before rushing to say “No, no buts.” She rolls her eyes at my response but doesn’t question me any further.
We sit in silence for a while and the tension grows, suddenly my mother slaps her knees saying “Ok, I don’t know what you’re hiding but I do trust you completely. So, lets drop it and enjoy today, you have a first date to get ready for.”
I offer her a soft sad smile and a small nod; it really is hard not telling my family what is really happening with the Quinn’s and Marino’s. It’s not that I don’t trust them or think they won’t believe me, I know they both will, but I also know my father will react before thinking it through.
If I can stop a war then I will do everything I can, even if it means being disloyal to my family. My mother offers her own sad smile before jumping up and grabbing her bag ready to shop, I follow her lead and we end up having a great day. I end up with a beautiful navy dress, with silver shoes and bag to match.
We have manicures and pedicures, we stopped for a light lunch all before heading home to shower and get ready for the hair and makeup girls. Yes, my mother as expected went overboard, but as she keeps reminding me it is my first date.
By the time my hair and makeup are finished I’m bored, but after the girls help me into my dress and shoes, I look in the mirror with a gasp. I hardly recognize myself; my skin is glowing for the first time in I don’t know how long. There is a glimmer in my eyes I haven’t seen since I was a child, I really do look beautiful and no I’m not conceited but tonight I have never looked better.
I step out of my room after checking I have everything I need in my purse, as I ascend the stairs, I hear gasps coming from below, but I can’t look up afraid if I do, I’ll fall. When I reach the bottom and look up, I see the beaming faces of my parents both with unshed tears in their eyes before they can say anything there is a knock on the door and I take a final breath before opening the door.
