Chapter 15

Savannah's POV When I wake up the following morning the house is a buzz of excitement, there are people running everywhere. Some have clothes some have shoes, there’re beauticians and hairdressers running around it’s chaos. I head down to the kitchen hoping there is coffee and cinnamon swirls, I cheer to myself as I spot exactly what I’m looking for. I take a seat at the kitchen island watching everything unfold with an amused expression, that is until I see my mother standing in the doorway hands on her hips tapping her foot glaring at me. I look around just in case but no she is definitely glaring at me, I gulp and almost choke as she marches towards me. When she stops in front of me, I offer her a weak smile, she glares at me “What do you think you are doing down here, people are looking for you and here you are enjoying a leisurely breakfast.” I look at her wide eyed not sure how to respond. She grabs my plate and mug and before I can say or do anything to stop her, she storms off, I rush to follow after her as she heads upstairs. I sigh as she walks into my room, just as I enter, she spins on her heels and says to me “You can eat and drink this after your shower, now get your arse in the bathroom.” I glare at her before responding “My coffee will be cold when I get out.” I finish crossing my arms over my chest like a brat. My mother scoffs “Stop being a f*****g brat and get in that shower, I will make sure there is hot coffee and more cinnamon swirls when you get out. You can stuff your face while you’re having your hair done, but you stop when its makeup time got it.” I give her a nod and spin around going to my bathroom. I feel like I’ve been sat in the same position for days, I mean it has been hours and finally I am done. I look at myself in the mirror and can’t help but think to myself ‘I could have done this look in less than an hour’ but then again, what mother wants mother gets and she wanted us all dressed and groomed by professionals for tonight. All that’s left is to put my dress on, I have another hour before we leave so I go down to the kitchen to get something to eat. I have my head in the fridge trying to decide between chocolate or cherry cheesecake when a voice startles me “I do hope you are not planning on wearing that to our engagement party.” I recognize the voice at once and spin around with a loud squeal. The cheesecake forgotten as I run and jump into Enzo’s waiting arms, he squeezes me tight before saying “God I was hoping for that reaction, f**k have I missed you.” I melted into his embrace as he took a deep breath nuzzling my neck, he pulls away after a few seconds and takes my face in his hands saying, “And I’ve waited long enough to do this properly.” I gasp as his lips hit mine in a rough and passion filled kiss. He has taken my first real kiss. He pulls away slightly to catch his breath pressing his forehead to mine, he closes his eyes and whispers “That’s how our first kiss should have been.” I close my eyes and let out a contented sigh. Enzo kisses the tip of my nose as I open my eyes, he has a soft smile on his face I look at him lovingly before saying “I missed you so much, but what are you doing here?” I feel cold as he takes his hands off my face and puts them around my waist, he looks at me with a smirk and says, “As if my girl is entering a party without me escorting her.” I chuckle as he finishes with a shrug. He then looks me up and down before looking at his watch and saying “Anyway, go and get dressed. I don’t mind being fashionably late to my own party, but there is a time limit on fashionably late.” I look at the clock how the f**k was I debating which cake to eat for an hour, and where the f**k are my parents. As if reading my mind Enzo laughs and answers my unasked question “I sent them ahead, I didn’t realize I was staring as long as I was.” I roll my eyes and turn running up the stairs, as I go, I shout over my shoulder to Enzo “Stalker much.” I hear him roar with laughter as I shut my bedroom door. I grab my dress and step into it, it fits like a glove, but I can’t reach the buttons. I decide Enzo will have to do them for me, so I sit and put my jewelry on, then I put my shoes on and head back down to Enzo. When I get into the kitchen where I left him, he wasn’t there, I look in the lounge and games room. As I walk into the dining room, I call him but get no response, that’s when I see the back lights are on and there are petals leading out the door. I look around a little nervous and feel my thigh making sure my guns are strapped in place, when I know they are I head for the back door. When I step out onto the deck my breath is stolen, all around me are my favorite flowers. There are fairy lights strung up everywhere, and soft music is playing in the background. I turn around only to gasp, there on one knee is Enzo holding out the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. When my teary eyes meet his I can see he is fighting back the tears as well, I open my mouth to talk but he beats me too it “Savannah, my life, my breath, I know we have been promised to each other since birth but growing up with you I have fallen so deeply in love with you, that I want to marry you through choice as well. This is my grandmothers ring and she made me promise to only give it to a Queen worthy, I couldn’t think of anyone else she would think more worthy. Please make me the happiest man alive and agree to be my wife, I will spend every day of my life proving I am worthy of you and your love.” I couldn’t say a word. I know that if I open my mouth the tears will start and my mother will kill me if I ruin my makeup, so I nod with the biggest smile on my face, Enzo quickly puts the ring on my finger and stands up grabbing me in a bone crushing hug, lifting me off my feet. He pulls away only to crash his lips into mine in a searing kiss leaving me dizzy and lightheaded, when he pulls away, he has a smirk on his face knowing exactly what his just done to me. He grabs my hand and turns saying “Come on, now we really are late.” I let him drag me still high from what just happened, it’s not until we pull up at Enzo’s front door the haze finally passes. As we walk up the steps to his house hand in hand, I can hear all the noise inside, tonight is a special night for me I just never realized how bad it would end.
