Tyson's POV
With all the strength I could muster, I dragged her away from the railway where she lay, pulling her close to me before the train would hit her. The impact of her body, coupled with the speed of the train, sent us falling to the ground immediately, her auburn hair covering my face completely.
I tried to talk to her, but she was gone, and I could see that my wolf was telling the truth. This lady had given up on life and wanted to end it right here and now. If not that I got there just in time and I could feel her faint heartbeat, I would've sworn she was dead.
Waiting for the train to finally pass, I rolled over, placing her gently on the floor before removing the iron digging into my right arm. Pushing my pain and bleeding arm to the back of my subconscious, I picked her up, heading to my car where I packed not too far away. I placed her in the back seat, picked up my keys, then ignited the engine, our destination being the hospital.
Immediately I got to the hospital, I rushed to give her to the nurse.
“Sir, let us attend to you first,” the nurses swarmed around me instead of the unconscious girl I brought in and this made my anger resurface.
“Why don't you want to attend to her?” I snapped, despite the pain in my hand and head. “Does she have some disease, so you're afraid to touch her or what?”
“The girl’s cursed,” a passerby responded, seeing that all the nurses were mute. “She brings bad luck wherever she goes. I'd forget her and let her die if I were you,” the old lady responded, and I just hissed.
“If you don't do your job and attend to her, I'll just find somewhere else to go. Then I'll make sure to burn this place to the ground,” I growled, ready to take her away, but one doctor immediately approached me apologizing for the actions of his nurses, then ordered them to begin treatment on her.
Seeing he wanted to get closer to me, I pushed him away, not caring if he hit the floor head-first. “She needs help! Stop trying to attend to me when you have a more critical patient!” I barked, my eyes changing to those of my wolf, and he immediately nodded, his once formal demeanor now changing to fear. “Leave!” I ordered and he immediately dashed away, everyone present looking at me like I had just murdered someone in cold blood.
I immediately went outside, rushing to meet the old woman who answered me earlier.
“What do you mean by 'she's cursed?”
She looked at me, clearly not intimidated by my suffocating aura or double-colored eyes.
“And who are you to the girl?” She asked and I gulped, not knowing the answer to give. She was still too weak for me to fully be sure if she was my mate or not. Figuring I'd just claim her as mine for the time being, I was ready to answer, but she was gone, making me curse under my breath.
Walking back inside the hospital, I found myself standing outside the room where the doctors tried to get her conscious again. Behind me was a girl, crying, begging for her friend who was in one of the rooms. Her cries were so loud, it became annoying, and I was forced to leave that area. I took some supplies from the irritating nurses and headed to my car to treat myself, something I had been doing since I was a child.
Once I was done, I popped some painkillers, closing my eyes hoping to calm my anger and stop this migraine from forming. I never expected to sleep, but I woke up the next morning feeling calmer. Remembering I had a woman inside there, I jumped out of the car and ran inside the hospital just to find an empty bed. An empty bed with the strong scent of my mate!
I grabbed the first doctor my eyes fell on, the anger I tried so hard to suppress coming back. “Where is she?”
“S-sh-she,” he began to stammer, tapping my hands, so I would please let him go. “Her family came to take her.”
“What family?!” I snapped. “Wasn't I the one who brought her here? Why would you let her leave with some family who most likely didn't care about what she was going through last night?”
“Forgive me, sir. I'll fetch you their address right away,” he begged in a breath, and immediately ran away before I could lay another finger on him.
I prowled, following him to the receptionist, and he immediately handed me the address.
“I'll come back for all of you,” I threatened before heading out to my car, using the map feature to find my way around this bastard pack. Everything here repulses me. Everything including the Alpha, hospital workers, everyone except for her of course.
Immediately, I parked my car at the compound. The first thing my senses picked up was the sound of a slap.
“What the hell?” I cursed, jumping out of the car and pushing the door with so much force, it broke on entry.
I saw her, sprawled on the floor, coughing blood severely. Beside her was another girl, her cries similar to the one I heard yesterday at the hospital.
“Who on earth are you?” The tiny disgusting voice of a lady filled my ears, but I just pushed her aside, going to meet the one who brought me here.
“Are you okay?” I asked softly, but seeing her clutch her chest, immediately answered my questions. Seeing as the other girl was in much better shape, and she was constantly crying her name, I gave Elizabeth to her, facing the disgusting tiny voiced girl.
“Dad! Mom!” She immediately yelled. “He's going to kill me!” She yelled again, due to the fear of my double-colored eyes and maniac smile.
Within seconds, two figures rushed downstairs but my hands were already wrapped around their daughter’s neck.
“Will you claim to not hear your daughter hit her or not?” I questioned the couple who were looking at me like a ghost.
“Answer me!” I yelled, and the woman flinched, hiding behind her coward husband who refused to respond, something he shouldn't have done.
“Why did you hit her?” I asked the girl who was hitting my arm, begging me to release my grip on her so she would breathe a bit, but that was not in my plan.
“Let my daughter go!” The man finally said something. That something sounded like an order instead of an answer to my question, causing me to shake my head, my grip on her tightening further.
“Why should I? She lay her finger on what's mine, so why should I bother sparing her life?” I questioned, raising her feet from the ground now and then a thought popped in.
“Unless you do it too,” I faced him, releasing my grip on the daughter and grabbing the man. “You hit her too, don't you? That's why you didn't do anything when she was slapped, isn't it?”
His silence gave me my answer, and I smiled. “Here's a departing gift from me to you,” I said and grabbed his hand, twisting it until a loud crack was heard, and his cries of pain filled the room.
Letting him go, I grabbed the unconscious Elizabeth from the scared little wolf who was holding her and dashed out. Just as I was about to enter my car, a few cars arrived, three men stepping out of the car now. One of which I fully recognized was Alpha Kennedy.
“Alpha Tyson. May I ask what you're doing here? With her?” Alpha Kennedy calmly asked, but I opened the door, and helped Elizabeth and her friend in, before facing them.
“I'm here to take what rightfully belongs to me from your godforsaken pack!” I yelled loud and clear for everyone to hear, and then I took one last glance at the family of three who stood at the broken door. Seeing him clutch his broken arm and cry in pain filled me with satisfaction and without a word more, I fired the engine, driving away from the compound.
“A-are you really her mate?” The girl asked, not daring to look into the mirror, and I could see she was terrified but worried about her friend.
“I am. Do you mind explaining what happened back there?” I asked, and she gulped, before filling me in on everything that happened in Elizabeth's life within the past year. All I could do was vent my anger on the steering wheel.
Despite all he and his son did to the poor girl, he had the guts to ask me what I was doing there. Bastard Alpha!
I didn't want to go back to that stupid hospital and ended up finding a better one with the other girl's assistance. They were more composed, attended to her immediately, and even gave me a room to freshen up with some fresh clothes.
Once I was done, I headed to her room. Luckily, she was awake, and I walked in, looking a bit composed now.
“I don't know if I should thank you or ask why you saved me,” she winced, trying to sit up, and her friend smacked her lightly asking her not to say such.
“You really want to die, Elizabeth?” I asked and she nodded. “You want to end your life and leave your mate, single till all eternity?”
Her eyebrows immediately rose up as disbelief colored her face. “Mate? Me?”
“Yes,” I responded, with a small smile. “Isn't that why you felt comfortable sleeping on my chest last night?” I forced myself to be playful a bit to at least soften the mood and seeing her cheeks turn tomato red made this Alpha and his wolf sigh in relief.
“I didn't…” she started but ended up wincing and clutching her chest once again.
“Elizabeth,” I heard a male tone at the door and immediately understood what was going on. Her first mate was here, meaning the pain of the mate bond and his presence here was weakening her further.
My face darkened and I strode to the door, stopping him before he could take a step in. “She doesn't want you here. Go to your woman.”
“Who the f**k are you to tell me what to do?” He barked, and I laughed, my mind already picturing how easily it would be to snap him into pieces.
“Even your father wouldn't dare do that. Leave. I wouldn't want things to get ugly.” I said in a low tone to avoid spooking the two girls behind me.
He wasn't going to listen and was about to push when his father's voice filled the hallway.
“Connor,” he called and, just like a beast taken by the song of his owner, he stopped, walking back to Alpha Kennedy then Alpha Kennedy replied with an apologetic smile. “Apologies Alpha Tyson. My son is just worried for his childhood friend.”
“Childhood friend?” I scoffed before going to meet them, my tone now mixed with my wolf's, deadly and possessive. “He doesn't need to be worried. She's MINE now."
